The North Yorkshire Moors Railway travels past the cottage on its route between the historic coastal town of Whitby and the market town of Pickering, stopping at beautiful villages along the way, including neighbouring Grosmont, which is just 1 mile away on foot, following the footpath past the engine sheds. The local village of Grosmont was once a hive of industry due to the discovery of ironstone in 1836 and the row of cottages were built for miners and their families.
