Come and stay at our charming and cosy, Victorian stone cottage, located in the heart of Fortuneswell on the beautiful island of Portland. The cottage is spread over three floors and offers amazing views over the rooftops to Lyme Bay and the Jurassic Coast from the converted loft bedroom. Our accommodation is ideally nestled near local amenities, a stunning beach, and an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The region is renowned for sailing, water sports, hiking/walking and climbing. As you enter the front hall, you will discover a cosy sitting room with Amazon TV and an assortment of board games. Continuing on the ground floor, you will find the dining room, which can seat up to six people. The well-equipped kitchen is accessible from the dining room, featuring a gas oven/grill and hob, fridge with an ice compartment, microwave, toaster, and kettle. Adjacent to the kitchen is a utility area, which houses a washing machine, a WC, and a washbasin. Taking the original stairs to the first floor, you will find a large bathroom, which includes a bathtub, a separate rain shower, and a heated towel rail/radiator. Also on this floor is the spacious front bedroom with a king-size bed, offering partial sea views. Additionally, on this level, you will find the third bedroom, which has twin beds and a hanging rail. If you go up another flight of stairs, you will reach the third-floor loft bedroom, which has a double bed. From the large window, you can enjoy far-reaching sea views, this room also has a TV with an Amazon Fire stick. The kitchen is well-equipped with a variety of utensils, crockery, cutlery, pots and pans, as well as mugs and glasses for those who wish to cook their own meals. The dining room leads to a charming enclosed courtyard garden at the rear and there is also a small garden at the front of the property. However, due to the location of the property and the stairs within it, it may not be suitable for young children or people with mobility issues.

After working in the education sector for almost 20 years, I decided to embark on a new adventure. My husband Dan and I fell in love with Portland and the Jurassic Coast and came across a charming Victorian cottage that needed some refurbishment. We restored and renovated it while adhering to the Building Regulations. Having stayed in various hotels and accommodations around the world, we decided to take a shot at being hosts ourselves. This cottage is located in the centre of Fortuneswell and is conveniently close to various amenities such as the Co-Op, award-winning fish and chips, cafes, and pubs, including the popular Cove House Inn. You can easily get to all these places on foot. Moreover, the cottage is just 500 metres away from Chesil Cove beach and the South West Coastal Path. If you're planning to explore the beautiful town of Weymouth, it's only 5 miles away and can be easily accessed by local buses or by driving. Please be aware that the roads in Fortuneswell are narrow, there are three free 72-hour car parks within a few minutes walk from the house, although they do get busy at weekends. Parking on the street is free.
