Great for a large group of friends to stay. Managed to get all of us round the table. Plenty of hot water and we were warm despite the storm. We had everything we needed there.

Company info

Rob & Claire purchased the farm & small holding in 2008 and following the design and planning stages, self built the Bunkhouse in 2013 followed by Bothies 1,2 & 3 a few years later. We now have 2 brand new Cabins that are best suited for Couples & Families that opened this spring (2023). The properties are very versatile and suit all type of events, There are cycling groups walking groups, birthday parties, and family gatherings in the holidays it is mainly families but also busy with students in June. We even have the odd hen party! The main attractions are Nearby Kielder Water and Forest Park and Kielder Observatory, Cycling is popular as The Lake has a 27 mile track around it, this doubles as a sculpture trail. Clearly the other attractions are well known, such as Alnwick Castle & Gardens, Hadrian's Wall, Coastal Villages of Seahouses Bamburgh Amble and Craster to name a few. There are a whole host of things to see and do around here, but part of the fun is to discover some for yourselves!. We are on hand to give guidance, on places to visit and eat as we live next-door with our Children just up the Lane.

Property info

Tarset Tor Bunkhouse; is purpose built for up to 20 people to enjoy the open plan living and kitchen & dining/gaming area which includes a pool table, games compendiums and a TV to entertain Children. The Building has 4 separate family rooms that have a double and 3 single beds in them, There are 3 showers and 3 WC's and even a drying room. There is a bike shed, a sauna, a woodland bar area, and footpath to the wildlife pond and Tarset Tor View point which has some of the best views in England Therefore the world! The decor is modern but walls are donned with local maps so it still has a Bunkhouse feel. The building suits all types of groups, but note that it sleeps 20 but in 16 beds as 4 are doubles. The local Pub is just a hop and a skip down the River path, where en-route the local monks have made a fairy dell that is popular with the kids. We are located on Cycle route 10, and a couple of miles from The Pennine Way and deep in Reivers of Tarset parish so lots of local history too.

Neighborhood info

We are set in the glorious Northumberland National Park, which is also now an International gold tier 'Dark Skies Park' Kielder Water is just 5 miles away and views from Tarset Tor extend to the vast forest and the Scottish borders. The nearest village with amenities is Bellingham which is 3 miles away, although Greenhaugh is only a mile and also has a pub. The Tarset Bastle Trail and Hareshaw Linn walks are the most popular local walks. Hadrian's Wall, Alnwick Castle and the beautiful Northumberland coast are all within easy reach with the cities of Newcastle Gateshead and Carlisle about 45 mins drive.
