The Holt is a spacious bed-sit with a fully equipped kitchen. A newly-renovated, street-level flat with disabled access (door width 65cm), it is part of a riverside property in the centre of Llangollen. It is a light and sunny room opening onto the colourful central courtyard. Designed for the convenience of visitors with moderate mobility difficulties, the wet-room is wheelchair-friendly. The beautiful River Dee is accessible within a couple of minutes by steps at the end of the street, or by a ramp from nearby the car park. Priincess Street is a dead-end street so is generally quiet, and cars may be undloaded outside the property before parking either on the street or in one of the nearby town car parks, for which a parking disc will be provided on arrival. The Holt is well lit and ventilated, with a comfortable double bed, sitting area with drop-leaf table, free WiFi, Freesat TV and efficient electric heating. There is plenty of cupboard space for guests' use. The kitchen has a fridge with freezer section, a gas cooker with electric oven, microwave, toaster and kettle. And if you need a break form cooking, there are several take-away options within walking distance!
As a retired teacher, first of languages and, for the past 30 years, the healing art of Usui Shiki Ryoho Reiki, I enjoy connecting with people from all walks of life. The Llangollen area has been my home base for many years, and I enjoy welcoming visitors to this beautiful part of the world and offering them a homely space from which to exlore its many delights.
Llangollen's position on the beautiful River Dee would be enough reason in itself to visit this popular little town. One can follow its course upstream on the narrow-guage railway as far as Corwen, or take a trip on the parallell-running canal on a horse-drawn narrow-boat. A walk up to the medieaval ruins of Dina Bran Castle is an essential pilgrimage for the physically fit, who can also enjoy some excellent hiking in the surrounding hills. Nearby attractions are the atmospheric ruins of Valle Crucis Abbey and the impressive NT Chirk Castle and Gardens One can walk across the famoour Froncysyllte Aqueduct or take in a game of golf at the nearby links. The town itself boasts a choice of pubs, cafes and restaurants as well as several take-away food outlets. The popular Cornmill is a few minutes' walk down the river parade, Gales Wine Bar is a cosy choice with a good menu, and there are two Indian restuarants. The Hand Hotel has outside seating by the river. Wandering round town you will find plenty of tempting gifts to take home as well as all the regular food shops. There's an Aldi just a short walk upstream and the petrol station has a convenience store and a Post Office.
