Staff was incredible. Very friendly and efficient. They profusely apologized for our room being given to us prematurely- they had cleaned it but not mopped the floor so they insisted that they would do it after we went out. Rooms very clean and comfortable. Location perfect.

The lodge is on a lovely farm about 10 minutes driving outside Vik. The women at check-in was very kind and helpful, and the rooms were beautiful, clean, and comfortable. There is a sitting area outside the rooms in case you want more space, and a separate kitchen building with a fridge for all guests. There was parking right outside the main building, and it was overall a very each process to check-in and check-out! This place served as a great home-base as we explored the south coast. I only wish we'd spent more time exploring the property!
Located in Vík and with Black Sand Beach reachable within a 6-minute walk, Vík Cottages has concierge services, non-smoking rooms, a restaurant, free WiFi throughout the property and a bar.

Cozy town tucked against a black sand beach with beautiful mountainous terrain and multiple viewpoints and other attractions within short driving distance. Definitely a town everyone should stop in when they are visiting Iceland.

Must try black crust pizza.
Must try black crust pizza. The lookout point at Dyrhólaey panoramic views, don't miss it and of course the Black Sand beach. To visit the crashed US plane, either we can walk for 3 hours (both ways) or take shuttle which will cost ISK3000 per person.

Vik is a picturesque gem tucked along the country's stunning south coast! Reynisfjara Beach is easily accessible, where black sand meets crashing waves with towering basalt columns as the backdrop. The wind can get too strong which makes a part of the beach dangerous (sneaker waves warning), but it is still well worth visiting. The town is charming with cozy cafes (try the black crust pizza!), the locals are warm and welcoming. This town is the perfect location to embrace the opportunity to disconnect and immerse yourself in Iceland's raw beauty.

We stayed in Vik for 3 days. Totally loved it.
We stayed in Vik for 3 days. Totally loved it. It is quite a small town, but has a big supermarket (kronan), a really great quality hiking clothes/supplies store, plus a number of cafes and places to eat. We recommend Sudur Vik Restaurant especially.
We did the Katla Track ice cave tour which was amazing and left from Vik!! Also recommend Icelandic Mountain Guides Snowmobile tour - meeting point 25 mins drive from Vik. Black Sand beach is great, as is local open air pool.
We stayed in the Vik hotel which is fabulous, but as we were there for three days, I would have preferred an apartment. The hotel also operates the Vik Apartments (which I hadn't realised before I booked) - they look really good.

We based our family of 5 in Vik to explore the southern coast over 3 nights with our rental car. We found it easier to have one base rather than a different hotel each night.
We visited the Skogafoss Waterfall, Black Sand Beach, YODA caves, gorge hike, Glacier walk at Skaftafell and then onto the Glacier lagoon and Diamond Beach.
We didn’t eat out as it was expensive for what appeared average food so we went to the local supermarket and cooked back at our self catered apartment.
Vik offers lots of adventure based companies who organise tour and expeditions.
Loved staying here. I think we had the best room in the hotel😍 facing the mountains and the beach on the other side. Black sand beach was just a 3-5 minute walk. Food in the hotel restaurant was delicious, (but there’s also a pizza place across the st) staff was friendly. There was also a Gas station right across the street, make sure you fill your tank, gas stations are like unicorns in the south of Iceland. There’s a beautiful church on a hill where you can park to try to catch the aurora. It was lovely staying here.
My favourite hotel I've visited!
The staff were lovely, very kind and helpful in terms of travel advice, and seemed to be authentic and honest - which was much appreciated.
What really got us was the fact that they had a Northern Lights 'wake up' call! This meant at 3am my sister and I saw green light dance across the sky - it made our trip. We could't believe our luck!
Stunning surroundings, perfect for what we wanted to see in Iceland, and the food in the restaurant was to die for.
This is the one hostel that I stayed in during my Iceland stay and I was impressed. Excellent value for money and lively vibe. We shared a private room with a shared bathroom down the hallway. Bed was very comfortable. Shower and bathroom were clean and I did not have to wait. Lovely view from the room. There is a bar open till very late and kitchen available to cook. Lots of people chatting and cooking from all corners of the world. Close to the town of Vik with black sand beaches.
We stayed here for 2 nights in two rooms (2+3 people) at the end of April. The location and the view from the restaurant is just excellent. The breakfast was very good. We had one dinner that was also really good but expensive (Iceland is a really expensive country).
The rooms were good, comfortable beds, nice and helpful staff. Everybody speaks English (the staff in hotels and restaurants is from foreign countries, mainly from Poland and they speak good English).
First of all I need to compliment receptionist - Lukasz, who was real gentleman and is absolutely gem. We got fantastic welcome and offered with free drinks on arrival, Lukasz was telling us about attractions near by and recommended places to visit.
Room was huge and all amenities were clean and above the expectations.
Breakfast range was above standards we had seen in other hotel in Iceland so plenty of choices.
Located just 10min from Viki and the amazing Black Sand beach in a peace and quiet this place was absolute amazing. Little small but very cozy, and very comfortable.beds, in the kitchen we had everything we needed, fresh towels. Perfect place to stay in south of Iceland as many amazing places are to see and what's the bonus we got to see the aurora just from our balcony one night which was an unforgettable experience
We arrived at the Vik Myrdal on a wet and windy Icelandic afternoon ahead of the scheduled check in, the staff were very accommodated and allowed us to check in a little early as our room was ready. We stayed in a family room that had a loft for the children, which they loved. Room included tea and coffee and had a large view to the mountains. Breakfast was plentiful and offered a great variety of foods.
It was our first night in Iceland and the location was perfect for our planned road trip; the staff was exceptional especially the gentleman who greeted us and prepared our breakfast (I think his name was Constantine) and the room was very cozy and clean. I highly recommend this location for travelers embarking on their own road trip around this beautiful country.
The view was incredible! Heated floors in the bathrooms were wonderful. Tastefully appointed, very comfortable beds and plenty of space for our family to spread out and enjoy the view of the sunrise and sunset. The kitchen was an added bonus as well and only a few minutes to lots of amenities in Vik. Easily the best stay of our week in Iceland!
The hotel is the biggest one we stayed during our 10 days trip in Iceland, we stayed two nights there with two rooms next to each other as requested. Room and bathroom are in good size and clean. The restaurant is big with a beautiful view, breakfast is excellent. We are happy with our stay.
I would return to Iceland just to stay at this Lodge again. the warmest welcome on arrival, fantastic location on seafront 5 mins from Vik, so cosy and homely. Breakfast was delightful. Staff incredibly friendly and helpful. Amazing value for money, will be recommending to everyone.
The rooms are a good size and comfortable. If noise bothers you, ask for a room at the end of the corridor. All hotels in Iceland have the same noise problem: neighbors slam the door when closing it. There is a market nearby.
Hotel is in the town of Vik, the black beach, shops and some restaurants are in walking distance, it is an advantage when yuo are heading east from Reikjavik. Very friendly and helpful staff, giving the advices about Iceland.
Very clean rooms and great location - around 15 mins drive from Vik. The highlight of the stay was the breakfast for us - the best we had in Iceland. Lots of home made fish and delicious food options. I would 100% go back.
This Vik hotel is convenient to so much on the South Coast of Iceland. The hotel is cozy, and our room was a good size, with a fairly large bathroom. The included breakfast was okay, and parking was easy.
Our room was large, clean, and recently renovated. The dinner buffet and the breakfast buffet (included in our fare) were great for a hotel in a remote part of Iceland. Would definitely stay here again.
The best room we had in a week in Iceland. Stylish, comfy and beautifully appointed. Great common area with a big couch, tables and a sort of self-serve bar area. Staff was nice and helpful.
Our favorite hotel in Iceland! Beautifully decorated with big windows facing north, so we were able to see northern lights even from inside our room. Big table and shower; great breakfast
