I love the location of APA hotels. They are always 2 minutes away from a station, 2 minutes away from a 7/11 or other convenience stores, and this one specifically is in my fav neighborhood of Asakusa! The room is good, and I love that it has a bathtub you can fill and relax in after a long day of walking. You can use the onsen ofc on the 14th floor for free, but it depends on whether you're comfortable enough with the culture of onsens.

The capital of Japan, Tokyo is a vast, teeming metropolis nestled between mountains and Tokyo Bay. It’s so huge that you’ll have to come to grips with public transport and maybe even experience being pushed onto a train. Yes, it does actually happen!
Get your bearings by ascending the Tokyo World Trade Centre near the waterfront, and savour the fantastic views taking in the red-and-white Tokyo Tower and Shinkuju’s skyscrapers. North is Ueno, home to the best museums (including the Tokyo National Museum) and a large park bursting with cherry blossom in spring.
Equally tranquil are the Chiyoda Imperial Palace and Gardens, surrounded by water. Also in gardens is the Meiji Jingu Shinto shrine in Shibuya, a youthful district where neon abounds.
For more traditional Japanese culture, head to Asakusa whose Sensō-ji Buddhist temple is Tokyo’s oldest temple. Markets in the grounds sell a variety of wares, though shopping in Tokyo is, of course, fantastic wherever you go.
Whether you stay in a Japanese ryokan, luxury Tokyo hotel or a hostel, don’t fly out of Tokyo Narita Airport or Haneda Airport without having tried sushi. Another Japanese institution is the sento (public bath) and onsen (hot springs bath) – a must try. Also incredibly popular are Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea, Asia’s 2 most visited theme parks.

Tokyo is excellent, and as a public transport geek, I think there is no better city on the planet. I rode the trains for hours every day, and I still never got tired of it. I literally spent over 500NZD on Suica (Japan's Metro Card).
I highly recommend Chuo Rapid and also getting the Tokyo Wide pass and staying near Shinjuku, especially if you fly in from NRT. The pass includes the Narita Express, which gets you a Daytrip out to Yokohama, the Fuji Express, and Nikko using Spacia.
Hot tip: if you're a Kiwi like me, I strongly recommend keeping to NZT as much as possible. It gets you access to Shrines/Temples, Akiba and Tsukiji Outer Market without the crowds

Tōkyō has it all.
Tōkyō has it all.
Make sure you are close to a train station, your feet will appreciate it. Our average amount of steps per day in Japan was 20,000, so transport and a central location are very important. Tokyo accommodation is expensive, we stayed in Shibuya and loved being so close to everything, however, some nights were noisy.
The close proximity to restaurants was the best thing on sore feet. We were spoilt for choice, but our favourite places to eat were ramen restaurants and Shibuya had many to pick from.
We found the train system easy to use and very user friendly. Although they can be busy and waiting for an elevator to get bags up to platforms can be slow.
I travelled with my teenage daughter, she loved the retro, second hand shops and all things fluffy.
Don’t expect a spacious room in any part of Japan, but Tokyo seemed worse as the cost is a lot more. No bang for your buck!
From Tokyo we visited temples (the cat temple was one of our favourite) and Mt Fuji. The rest of the time was spent shopping. If you want something, Tōkyō has it.

Our second trip to Tokyo. Escapism of a different kind.
Our second trip to Tokyo. Escapism of a different kind. This time with three children and only visiting Tokyo due to being on a relatively tight budget, so unable to travel outside the city again (rail travel being quite expensive) and with two days at Disney in the mix we needed to plan our days around this. For Disney you can stay at MyStays hotel that offers a free shuttle to either Disney Land or Disney Sea.
Tokyo is amazing city to explore and immerse yourself in, if you can deal with the language barrier, the amount of time it takes to naviagate the transport system, and have a enough data on your phone to guide you around. A country specifc eSim is a must!
A great place for children to explore and enjoy, if they're not super-fussy eaters. Shibuya shopping area, Harajuku & the winding streets between Omotesando Ave & Harajuku Street with all the colourful street art and youth fashion, with quirky vintage clothing stores, cool fashions, and cosplay shops along Takeshita Street. The Asakusa shopping area west of the station, and the vibrant market streets (Ueno Ameyoko) on either side of Ueno Station all offer a feast of inspiration, food and shopping opportuities. The temples and shrines are a must to escape the chaos of the city. As are comfy shoes.
Trips to Onsen (Thermal Baths / Springs) are also a given whether family focused or communal (Kosugiyu Harajuku Sento (Public Bath) at Tokyo Plaza) or head out to the the Hakone or Kusatsu Onsen area (草津温泉) if you have the time. Kusatsu is one of Japan's most famous hot spring resorts and is blessed with large volumes of high quality hot spring water. Do your research and learn the etiquette and you can't go wrong. Its probaly the cleanest city on the planet, even in the dirtier parts.

Many things too see, not enough time.
Many things too see, not enough time. Too crowded, need time to learn how to walk effectively. Metro system is superb. People are very respectful, perhaps a bit too much. Many things we can learn from. However, the quiet culture maybe can be a bit too much. Ramen is too salty.

Hotel was close to train station and it was easy to travel to Shinjuku, Shibuya and Tokyo city centre. However, it may be difficult if someone is not familiar with using the underground train system. Got lost several times but it was a great experience as I managed to find my way back to the hotel! There are also 2 other APA hotels nearby and once went to the wrong APA Hotel!
Many convenience stores with ATM facilities as well as restaurants and some tax free shops, luggage shops are located near the hotel.
Wow, room is much spacious than expected. Stylish pajamas given. Self-check in hotel but staff will accommodate if you need help. Amazing location as Miyashita park is a place where there are lots of high end luxury stores. 3-5mins walk from Shibuya Station exit B1. Staffs are amazing and friendly. Don’t forget to ask about luggage transfer to next hotel or airport in advance so they can help you out transferring luggage to the next location (to save you from hustling the luggage everywhere)
The room was small but that is pretty standard for a Japanese hotel. The size is perfect for a couple, but we had two kids in tow! The bed was large and it fit myself, my husband and our 5 year old! We were also provided a small crib for our 1 year old. Super comfy bed! Amentities were great and the staff were super friendly! Unfortunately we were only there for one night but will definitely book again when we come back!
I have stayed in different 9h across the city and across the years, and always had a good experience. It's exactly what you'd expect, a capsule hotel where you actually rest pretty well as the beds/pillow is designed for a deep sleep.
Very good location, 10 min walk to the main Shinjuku area.
Excellent place to stay in Tokyo. Shinjuku and Shibuya is easily accessible. Loved the ambience inside the hotel. Staff were excellent guides to any queries.
