The Park Front Hotel at Universal Studios Japan, hotel in Osaka

The hotel features private parking, various cafes, restaurants and shops on site, as well as free WiFi access in all areas.

Location at park front was amazing, did not have to worry about getting to the park extra early. Convenience of in-house eateries and convenience stores, also a short walk outside in universal walk are plenty of restaurants and shops. Really made the day less tiring after spending the day walking around universal studios.

Hotel Universal Port, hotel in Osaka

Hotel Universal Port is a 4-minute walk from Universal Studios Japan and a 20-minute drive from Osaka Station. It offers 1 restaurants, and rooms with free WiFi.

We had a blast at Hotel Universal Port, really wonderful experience that we will definitely stay here when we go back to USJ. We had 2 rooms, and they were big enough to have space to move around and open our luggages. The rooms were so cozy and the beds were really comfortable. The room is exactly as the photos. Cleanliness was as expected. We loved the warm toilet seats and the bidet which we also have back home (except the warming seats). The washer/dryer on the ground floor was very useful. The staff were wonderful and responded well to our requests, they even assisted us in calling a taxi and talking in Japanese to explain our destination. The hotel has luggage lockers for 100yen which you can get back after using the locker. The hotel is very conveniently located, less than 5 minutes walk to USJ and Universal City station is less than 2 minutes walk. We felt safe arriving late at night. There is also a restaurant which we tried for room service and the food were yummy. We even ordered a birthday cake, and the service they provided was really greatly appreciated, because not only did they provide the plates, fork, cake cutter, candle (and lighted it for us) but they also made sure that we got a good photo. There is wifi in the hotel but we did not use this as we have pocket wifi.

FAQs about hotels in Osaka

A Stronghold of Japanese Culture

At the meeting point of river and sea, huge Osaka combines forward-thinking development and sure-footed tradition. This is symbolised in its temple-like, 16th century castle, guarded by ramparts and enlivened by vibrant spring cherry blossom. Dominating the surrounding skyline is Osaka Business Park, a reminder of the city’s strong role in the Japanese economy.

However, the most striking skyscraper is the Umeda Sky Building - 2 towers connected by a rooftop terrace offering far-reaching views. The nearby Osaka and Umeda train stations are linked by underground shopping centres, while the shops of Shinsaibashi’s America Village appeal to a younger crowd. Dōtonbori’s neon lights promote more shops, as well as restaurants considered the best in Osaka. In a city touted as Japan’s culinary capital, that’s quite an accolade.

The Tsūtenkaku tower overlooks Tennōji Park, home of the Osaka Municipal Museum of Art. Another nearby park houses Shitennō-ji, one of Japan’s oldest Buddhist temples.

The Kyocera Dome Osaka is a shrine of baseball, and more thrills are at waterfront Universal Studios Japan, the country’s 2nd largest theme park. Also by the sea is Kansai International Airport, on its own artificial island.

The capsule hotel was invented in Osaka, and alongside this type of accommodation, Booking.com also offers luxury hotels with pools, cheap hostels and traditional ryokans.

For a first time visitor to Japan, I am glad I chose Osaka,...

For a first time visitor to Japan, I am glad I chose Osaka, rather than Tokyo. Whilst we did visit Tokyo, it was too large and very busy with an extremely complex underground/railway network. We stayed in two locations during our holiday. The first being appartments designed for short stay tourists. The second was a holiday home which worked out cheaper and was much more spacious. If you are travelling with a family I can highly recommend the second option. Whilst it was not centrally located, the area (Imaichi) was quiet and clearly was not used to tourists in that area (this was a good thing!) There was a more friendly atmosphere - and homely feel about the area. Central Osaka was easier to navigate than Tokyo with fewer underground lines. Wether you wanted to stay in a city envronment or visit more rural areas such as Nara or the northern beaches of Tottori (Higashihama - 100m from the station!) - It could all be done with a cheaper JR Area Pass (rather than the more expensive all Japan JR Rail Pass). Kyoto and Lake Biwa was stunning. With easy access westwards towards Himeji, Fukuyama and Hiroshima, Osaka is a much more all rounded experience of Japan. I would say self catering accommodation is the way to go. The food availalble from convenience stores and the local markets is freshly prepared, restaurant quality and ready to eat. I am amazed if the local population actually properly cook for themselves at all! I could not get over the size of the apples (huge)! Try the strawberry and cream sandwich - go on - do it!

Osaka has a lot to offer: short day trips to lovely cities (Kyoto, Kobe, Nara), nice sightseeing in walkable distances, huge shopping areas and a lot of activities to book! The botanical garden has a Lightshow you don‘t wanna miss (but of course not always). Tip: go and slide down the tower of Tsutenkaku- I loved it!! (1000 Yen) The metro is easy to use and you could also book (electrical) bike vis Luup (app).

The property is conveniently located near shin Osaka. A bit tricky to find the first time. But I found that with all the hotels I stayed at on this trip. It’s a budget hotel. So no Bells and whistles. But staff is courteous. English is minimal. But you can manage. Room is basic, small like most Japanese hotels. But clean. Breakfast is included. However we did not eat. Didn’t like the selection. But no complaints as I wasn’t looking for a breakfast included room. It just happened to offer it by default. For the price the room was great.

Located about 5 min walk from the Osake Metro station and close to supermarket and 7-11 Shop. Arrived about midday so friendly staff looked after our bags until check-in. Room had two double beds and was relatively large for Japanese hotel. Bathroom a bit small but clean and functional. Beds are very firm, which may be a problem for some visitors. Have free noodles in the lounge but we didn't try. Reasonably priced for a hotel in Osaka and 2 stations from Namba.

The beds were very comfortable, bathroom was very good. Although the rooms were not big, space was used very efficiently. The hotel is next to the Shin-Osaka Station so that hotel is a HUGE base for traveling Japan via the Shinkansen. Unfortunately I booked the hotel for one night. Should I visit Japan again, this will definitely be my base 😏 Prices are very reasonable. The hotel also has a spa area, which though I didn't use because it was hot summer.

Coming from of the 4 hotels we stayed at during our 3 weeks in Japan this was by far the largest and most modern room yet. Very impressed by the size, cleanliness and quality of the room. Self-check in and out was easy, received email with details day before arriving in Osaka. In room laundry was a plus, but we ended up going to a coin laundry to dry our clothes anyways. Great deal for anyone wanting to stay in the Namba area.

The location of this hotel is fantastic, being right next to the Namba train station and a short walk to Dotonbori and the Kuromon markets. There's two multistorey shopping options just across the road as well. The room was comfortable and reasonable spacious but basic. Breakfast had a small number of options but enough to keep most happy - more japanese options than western. The staff were very friendly here.

The actual hotel looks better than the pictures. Room was a bit small but that’s normal in Japan. Bed was comfy and amenities were of great quality. The hotel is located on the outskirts of Osaka and a fair walk to the train stations. A Lawson minimart is just across the road. Large rooms with comfortable beds, plus a nice bathroom with bath salts. The hotel is also right next to the metro station which makes it easy to reach Osaka/Umeda station, and Namba. It’s about a 20 min walk to Dotonbori. The hotel breakfast is also so delicious.

Great location, very friendly and helpful staff. Room was a comfortable version of the standard Japanese business hotel style. Very easy to get to any part of Osaka, and conveniently located for leaving on day trips round Kansai from Namba or Tennoji.
