If you go towards the end of the day it is a little quieter and you get to see the baths as the sun goes down with pool lit up with fire torches. Very atmospheric in the winter months. Allow yourself at least an hour and a half!
It’s ok felt very herded in the one way system and always having to move along, would love to have visited pre COVID, wasn’t able to wait outside of toilets on corridor. For partner so we didn’t lose each other Apparently due to COVID, however they wanted you to queue on the next corridor to visit shop!!!!
FANTASTIC cultural experience, but go early - we were in at 9.30am and narrowly avoided some enormous queues. PS take the free audio guide which contains gold mines of information not found in the exhibit.
We booked in advance for access as soon as the baths opened. It meant an early breakfast but was really worth it because as the day went on the baths got more and more busy. We had a chance to see everything close up at our own speed and without large crowds. I
Allow up to three hours for everything and use the free headphones for the museum, followed by a free guide in English round the baths themselves starting every hour. There is also a booklet for younger children to fill in if needed!
Enjoyed our time here. I would suggest going early and pre booking your tickets on line. We did and entry was very quick, the two of us were the first in and we were able to get photographs without people. Very informative audio guide although a little confused as to what number to push at times!
The Hilton is a very modern, spacious hotel with lots of amenities, something you would expect from a Hilton. The gym was clean and adequate enough to get a good workout. The bar and restaurant had tremendously friendly staff, very down to earth. Breakfast was great. Rooms were large, clean and had modern bathrooms. Parking was just below the building, which is very convenient. The walk to the Roman Baths is an easy 5-10 minute walk. The oldest bar in Bath, The Sarecens Head, is right across the street.
This was such a charming, well appointed, beautiful and extremely well located apartment. It’s on a beautiful little quiet square and is only a 1 minute stroll to the Roman Baths, Bath Abbey, Sally Lunns, shopping, cafes and restaurants. Breakfast right next door. The apartment is modern, clean, spacious and comfortable. Terrific shower(or tub), Netflix for early nights in, views of the city, et al. Note that it is a top floor apartment so do expect stairs. Can’t wait to return!
We really enjoyed our brief stay at Grade 1 Maisonette. It was nicely decorated, well equipped and had plenty of room for us, 4 adults and 2 children. The position was excellent, being within walking distance of the Roman Baths and the Abbey. We travelled to Bath by train and it was not far from the station. We were allowed to drop our luggage off early and were able to leave it in a safe place the next morning until our departure later in the day. This was really helpful.
Location was SUPERB! Close to the public car park and close to everything in Bath. Three minute walk to coffee, tea, and various restaurants. Six minute walk to the Roman Baths. The apartment is light and bright with great cross ventilation from the windows. Large bathroom, kitchen, living room and bedroom. Very clean and nice. The Scallop Shell restaurant across the street is FABULOUS!
Pros: . Location is amazing, 1 minute from the main high street, the Roman Baths, all restaurants, train station. . The apartment is really nice, great to have a kitchen. . The windows are really well sealed so with them closed you don't hear road/people noise from the high streets.
Hotel is in a very good location - not too far from the station (about 20 minutes walk) and near lots of cafes and shops. Also close to the main sights of Bath, such as the Roman Baths, Royal Crescent and Bath Abbey. Wifi is good and there are hot drink making facilities in the room.
The guests have the pportunity to make waffles for breakfast, which is great. The hotel is located at the city center and is close to the Roman Baths and restaurants.
The hotel is very near the centre of Bath. The Roman baths, shopping and dining are all at walking distance. Beds are comfortable. The breakfast is excellent.
The apartment was exceptional, it had dishwasher, washing machine etc. And the location was perfect just around the corner from the Roman Baths.
The location was excellent, but more than 250m from the Roman Baths.
Delighted to find an additional 'Bryson' commentary on the audio devices available in the Roman Baths as well as the more traditional narration.
