This place is the best for "aperitivo". Very lively and sufficiently small to feel at home. Just go there for a nice glass of wine before a walk and a dinner in the center of the eternal city!
It used to be a wonderful street market selling 'real' things - not it confines itself to tourist tat and all the restaurants have spoiled the atmosphere - bring back the lovely shops it once had. I used to walk through here every day for seven years - sadly not a patch on its former self.
The apartment was a classic “bait and switch.” The one we were taken to was not the one pictured in the add. It was much smaller and dirtier. When I asked the representative about the discrepancy, she laughed and said it wasn’t the apartment pictured and that is how it goes!! To get to 1/2 of the apartment, you basically had to walk over the pull-out bed in the front room and it was impossible to put up the bed. Only one person could be in the “kitchen at one time. The drain in the shower, hair dryer and dishwasher did not work. When one toilet was flushed, the water in the other toilet splashed up on you! The street entrance to the apartment did not lock. There were bugs in the bathrooms and the kitchen. I I am very disappointed that Booking.com offered this property and actually feel I am due some of my rental fee back. This will definitely influence which site I choose to book on in the future. B
Yes! Go there and graze on various delights from the booths. But do not eat at the restaurants in the square. Go down one of the side streets several blocks and find a small restaurant with no pictures of food.
On a regular day, this place is crowded. On a marked day, it's not only crowded but also filled with market stands with flowers, vegetables, oils, olives, and Chinese Rome- and Italy-themed junk to the point that it's impossible to pass through. At the end of day, vegetable waste fills the area. Avoid on market day. Unless you want to buy some flowers or vegetables. And the statue of Giordano Bruno is a must-see.
We sat & had drinks & eats at different places, after we had a drink then moved on to another place for more drinks & maybe some food & continued this so we could experienced different restaurants. Listened to some great local talent in the square one night & visited the square the next day for the market.
Campo de' Fiori is a great place for good restaurants out side of the old city touristic places.
