Currently the Egyptian and Da Vinci exhibitions are closed so don’t pay for entry unless the other museums interest you. All of the castle you can see is free, inside the castle is only museum spaces and you can only access the walkway around the castlations by pre booking a walking tour before you arrive. I’d say an hour wander around and through before the park was fine for most people. Don’t bother with the rest unless you are a real history student or something. Michael Angelo exhibit was one unfinished piece.
The castle is nice from the outside, but women be warned - there are, like in so many other European cities, groups of men lingering at the entryways trying to talk you into giving them money for bits of 'lucky' string. I've seen this trick so many times, they offer to tie it around your wrist, then won't let go of your arm until you pay them (I have photos of the bruises from Paris to prove it 😞). They are incessant and claim it's for free, so I would advise you walk straight past & ignore them, even if it feels rude. I suppose the staff of the castle know about this, but perhaps corruption reigns and a few backhanders allow them to continue...
make sure you have plenty of time. Walk thro the courtyard when you have visited the castle and walk thro the park, the Aquarium on the right hand side on the viewing tower on the left, 68 metres high,(it has a lift) and the views from the top are spectacular.
Impressive medieval fortress. I recommend to visit Sforza when you're in Milan. Hint: Don't but coffee around, it is much more expensive. Try looking for small local cafe in small streets far away from the main landmarks - it is less expensive and has much better taste! (1.7e vs 5 e)
Great location, very close to the metro, the Sforza castle is one stop (and you can even walk, it’s not that far). Spacious apartment, the kitchen was especially liked by our family. The sofa is really comfy, we all gravitated towards it in the evenings after the day’s travelling/sightseeing. The small restaurant next door was also very handy. The host met us personally to hand over the key, he is a really nice person and very helpful with booking taxis etc.
The location was perfect. Just around the corner from the Duomo, close to the Galleria and a short walk from there to La Scala. Even walked to Sforza Castle. Breakfast was more than adequate. Nearby restaurants very good. (Plus a gelato spot!)
Breakfast was a wonderful start to each day. All staff was friendly and helpful. Our room was quiet, as requested. The hotel was in a nice location- walkable to Sforza castle and Sempione Park. A little far for other locations.
The Castello Sforzesco is a complete functioning castle, an impressive castle with museums contained within, lovely grounds and adjacent to Park Sempione.
