When we first saw the hotel, my daughter was a bit disappointed. It looked uninspiring and cramped. I warned her not to judge a book by its cover, and boy, was I right! At check-in, we were greeted like VIPs. Though we were a bit early, the clerk took terrific care of us. Each time we came down to the desk, they were kind and courteous. It is a warm hotel. The last time we came to Himeji, we stayed at a hotel that also had a hot spring, but the staff could hardly have been called warm. In fact, I would have called it Soviet-style hospitality. At the Dormy Inn, the staff was dynamic, energetic, eager to please... just perfect. Despite its modest outward appearance, the Dormy Inn is a true gem of a hotel.
