Room was spacious, very clean and had an amazing view of snow-capped mountains. Beds were luxuriously comfortable. Everything was as new and in immaculate condition. Great for even the fussiest of people. The continental breakfast was much better than expected and included cold meats, cheese and boiled eggs as well as a wide range of cereal, with preserver fruit and yoghurt, not to mention coffee and a choice of several fruit juices.

A unique, 'out of the box' experience. The hotel is a living museum, with antique paraphernalia and curios everywhere. The furniture in the rooms is amazing. Feels like you have stepped back in time to the 1800s. Lester and Sam were excellent as hosts. Meals were great quality and value. The bar (available to in-house guests only) offered beer and wine at reasonable prices. There's not too much accommodation in the Otira / Arthur's Pass area with dining and bar facilities, so the Stagecoach Hotel fills a valuable niche.

Well appointed. Clean and Spacious for a studio. Quiet area with good hiking. Hosts Rochelle and Woody were really helpful about sharing travel tips. Situated across the street from a pub which would have been very convenient if we wanted to eat there.

It was recommended that we hike up to the Devils Punchbowl...

It was recommended that we hike up to the Devils Punchbowl Falls by the host at our guesthouse. It was suggested that close to sunset when the sun lights up the falls on one side and the sun is setting through the mountains on the opposite side.

Don't believe a local who says it's an easy walk.

Don't believe a local who says it's an easy walk. Hundreds of steps but well worth it. The views are fantastic on the way up/down as well as the falls at the top. A few sandflies/blackflies? around.
