San Simeon has to be one of my favourite stops along the California HWY1 Coast Drive. Hearst Castle is a must, but also, the Sea Lions at Seal Point are also part of the main attraction of this sleepy seaside jewel in the crown of California.Guest review byHuiNew Zealand

The rooms are old but are comfortable and clean and generally well cared for. The room refrigerator is generously sized and there were adequate outlets for our CPAPs. For those that don't need fancy and prefer not to pay top dollar for a place to sleep for a night, the Silver Surf motel fits the bill. The architecture is lovely and Julia Morgan has drafts of Hearst castle adorning the wall. The pipes make noise, no air conditioning, bathrooms are dark. We love every nuance of this place. The location if perfect. We are near the castle and Cambria. The beaches below the hotel are very nice! We are local and love San Simeon ❤️. Staying at the hotel is like going back in time.
