United StatesThe room was spacious and clean. The beds were comfortable and the bathroom clean and spacious enough for a family of four. The hotel lobby also had free cookies from the local bakery which was a nice touch. There was a basic continental breakfast in the lobby each morning, but we did not have it due to time constraints. The hotel was also walking distance across the road from the ocean, so it was convenient to walk across the street to watch the ocean, sea life, or sunset. Overall, it was a great hotel for the price and location.

The rooms are old but are comfortable and clean and generally well cared for. The room refrigerator is generously sized and there were adequate outlets for our CPAPs. For those that don't need fancy and prefer not to pay top dollar for a place to sleep for a night, the Silver Surf motel fits the bill. The architecture is lovely and Julia Morgan has drafts of Hearst castle adorning the wall. The pipes make noise, no air conditioning, bathrooms are dark. We love every nuance of this place. The location if perfect. We are near the castle and Cambria. The beaches below the hotel are very nice! We are local and love San Simeon ❤️. Staying at the hotel is like going back in time.
