United StatesGreat location central to the Kiso Valley area. Near the Kiso Fukushima train station. The staff was excellent. Make sure to include breakfast and make sure to do dinner there at least one night. It’s a little pricey but well worth it. The Japanese bath is excellent.

United StatesCommunication beforehand was great. We liked that the walk from the train station to the hotel was short and convenient. We recommend staying in the main building in a Japanese style room which has a small but modern bathroom in the room. Upon arrival, we found the lobby to be chic and welcoming with tea, comfortable furnishings and a cute section of t-shirts and other souvenirs for sale. The room was large enough to fit our four futons comfortably. Yukata and slippers were provided. The futons were thick and very comfortable as well as the duvets. The onsen was wonderful. The staff were kind enough to recommend and help us book a restaurant for dinner for our big group of 8. The breakfast was exceptional, maybe our favorite of the trip.

They catered to my dietary so well which was so appreciated and a difficult thing to find in Japan, can be hard to not eat meat. Loved the private onsen experience, we did the star tour too which was really cute, and went for a late night dip in the main onsens (women’s one was empty so it was amazing to have it completely to myself!). Onsen so pampering after 2 days of flying/sitting on trains. Japanese dinners scrumptious and exquisitely presented. To return to our traditional Japanese room after such a dinner to find cosy futons laid out was simply heaven. Staff warm and caring. The onsen was fantastic, everything was provided and the temperature was perfect. We were walking a few sections of the Nakasendo trail and this was a great place to rest. The free stargazing tour was wonderful and the guide was so knowledgeable. The food included was delicious and generous, and it was nice to taste so many different Japanese foods. We were picked up and dropped off at the train station, included in the room rate. The ryokan is in a nice quiet location, but only a short journey from the station.
