United KingdomVictoria welcomed us and we ate in Kouzina below the accommodation in the evening (great food). We also met Demetris in the evening and he is the perfect host. Would happily recommend anyone to stay here. The Dolphin next door is also welcoming and serves a good pint. The area, including Brean Down is beautiful and worth a visit.

Stayed here to catch an early morning flight from Bristol. Lovely location for woodland walks, a game of tennis, a swim, spa, decent food and coming back to an old English style comfy room.

I was traveling with my 82 year old father and we had originally made reservations for one night. Before we traveled to Axbridge we had to rearrange our trip and I called Graham to ask if we could extend our stay by 2 nights. He was so accommodating and gracious to our needs. When we arrived he could not have been more welcoming and helpful with our bags. I loved the design and comfort of the inn. The full English breakfast was delicious and there is a nice assortment of delicious jams and jellies for toast. There is one pub directly across the road and more in Axbridge. Thank you Graham and your team for your superior customer service and friendliness. I am not finished exploring Glastonbury but if I make it back from the States I’ll definitely stay there.

The lodge was immaculate, spacious and modern. It had everything we could need. The late check out on a Sunday is a brilliant idea. I would highly recommend this site and intend to visit again.

Winscombe is a charming village that offers a perfect blend of countryside calm and family‑friendly activities. During our three‑night stay, we found it to be an excellent base for exploring the wider Somerset area, with plenty to keep both children and dogs happy.
The village itself is peaceful, with easy access to forests, walking trails, and open spaces. Rowberrow Warren and Sandford Woods were standout spots — ideal for relaxed dog walks and letting the kids burn off energy. The location also makes day trips incredibly convenient: Cheddar Gorge is just minutes away, and larger attractions like Puxton Park and Brean Theme Park are within short driving distance.
Local hospitality was consistently warm, and the area felt safe, clean, and welcoming. Whether you’re looking for nature, family activities, or simply a quiet break, Winscombe delivers a surprisingly rich experience for a small village.
Overall, Winscombe is a lovely destination for families, especially those travelling with dogs. It offers comfort, convenience, and plenty of memorable moments.

Do your research before you go to get the best out of your trip, where to go, what to do, places to eat, so much to see & do, YouTube is good for information. The Cheddar Gorge walk is amazing, as is the caves, Jacobs Ladder, watch tower, shops, cafe's, the people are so friendly & accommodating. Beautiful views.

We stayed here for one night to attend a wedding. No flexibility in checkin / out to even accommodate a luggage drop let alone a quicjk change. We needed to get changed outside. Yep i know I got what it said on the booking but most places accommodate a bag drop. No criticising, just sharing.
We only stayed one night. It was chosen for it's location - which was good as right next to wedding venue - it was expensive for what it was - shared bathroom, slightly tired feel to it which didn't make it feel clean. The sofa bed was not at all comfortable and the room it was in was flooded with light as the curtains didn't stop the light.

Sleep quality poor.
If i was coming to the Lodge for another special occasion I would probably stay somewhere else. My friend stayed elsewhere locally, saved £50 and got a full cooked breakfast included. Not sour grapes, just saying.
However if you have children than it would probably be Ok on the sofa bed and then it would be better value. It did the job.

Quite place , good walking place . had plenty of eating places nearby . centrally located getting to Waston , Bristol or other seside places . Also driving distances from other attractions. Good local pubs nearby all serving food.

The room was a good sized family room.
The room was a good sized family room. Bed comfy but the pillows were hard. Difficult to sleep especially for my husband with neck problems.

There is no local shops so if self catering take things with you. There shops in the next village about 2 miles away. There are lots of public footpaths to explore and the views accross the area are great. Lots of major attractions and places to visit within a short journey.

We used the bungalow as a base as we were visiting friends who live in Burnham in sea. But we could have spent more time there as there was nice garden with furniture and a bbq. And a fully equipped kitchen and a lovely dining room.

Shower room excellent with underfloor heating. Small kitchen with breakfast bar, fridge cooker and two ring hob. Abundant utensils. Toaster and microwave. Bed a very comfortable king-sized. Gloria was a very friendly host who showed us her horses and invited us to explore the land. Recommended and would definitely use again. Be aware, the location is accessed by a narrow single track muddy lane with occasional passing places, light traffic.

The Thatchers Cider tour is interesting.
The Thatchers Cider tour is interesting. Food served there is extremely good quality. There is limited parking as the village is on an extremely busy road. The Strawberry Line is interesting to walk along. Bristol Airport isn't too far from the area either.
