The overall experience of staying in the guesthouse was good & the place (castle) is kinda perfect for a romantic weekend. The staff was helpful & the amenities were as described. Beware that the ground rooms have low ceilings and the shower has a bolted ceiling - meaning u cannot really move much. The floors are cold because you do not have wooden floors. The entry to our guesthouse was a small door, and we had a nice terrace right outside that was private. We ate the breakfast at the hotel which was 250m away from the accommodation.

Napflio is a beautiful renaissance-era town with a long history of importance to the Greeks. It is said to be one of the prettiest towns in Greece and I do think it is. Easily walkable, packed with good small restaurants and cafes, lovely squares, waterfront walks along the bay, and high quality shops. There is are three medieval castles guarding the town adding to the atmosphere. Easy to get to the major ruins of Mycenae, Epidaurus and close to small but evocative ruins like Tiryn's Cyclopean-walled castle. All in all, a terrific place to spend a few days. A good base for the Peloponnese.
We stayed mostly in old town, which is beautiful. The ruins of Acronafplia are mysterious and open all day and night. Nafplio itself is a great place to relax and just take in the food, people, and scenery. It is an excellent base for touring part of the Peloponnese. If you're interested in the ancient sites, there are dozens in the area. It is also an excellent wine region. My advice is to rent a car and set up a base in Nafplio to explore. We stayed at Acronafplia pension on the hill, which was absolutely perfect for us as we were halfway between the beaches, the fortresses and the town. We opted for breakfast at our hotel which allowed us to get a nice leisurely start to the day.
Great city for a relaxing weekend, or as a base to explore the peloponnese, Old pebble streets, full of shops and restaurants, Nafplio castle Palamidi impressive buildings, very Greek atmosphere, fewer foreign tourists than in other islands around. Very active in the evening, coffee shops, bars, tavernas with live music
What a wonderful small town with so much to offer! We ended up there 3 times as we toured the Peloponnese. It has something for everyone. Great restaurants, good shopping, beautiful old city with classic buildings, narrow picturesque streets with stretches of steps, beautiful plazas, churches, museums, an amazing fortress to explore, and even a nice full service swimming area in town! It's a central location for exploring historical sites as well.
Nafplio is a quaint seaside town with lots of great tavernas and small shops. Ideal for evening strolls and good food. It is a great base to explore the Peloponnese reagion as it is close to many archeological sites and to Tolo from where you can take daily trips to the islands of Hydra and Spetses.
Koroni is a beautiful seaside town with many taverns and cafes. It is situated on the southeast coast of the first of the three Peloponnese peninsulas. Zaga Beach is a very pretty spot with a restaurant right next door. Our favorite tavern was Bogris, in town opposite the high school. It is very easy to travel around the peninsula to many towns and tourist sites as well as back to Kalamata. Time is not an issue as all towns are within close proximity of each other and roads are pretty good compared to some Greek roads. Koroni itself is a little difficult getting around if you are not fit; many steep roads with many steps.
We wanted to explore somewhere off the beaten path in January, and to do some hiking. Dimitsana was very quiet. The position of the town is breathtaking and we felt very lucky that the town we'd picked to stay in happened by far to be the nicest we'd seen since winding our way through the Peloponnese from Athens. There was rain, fog and snow some of the time (mid Jan), none of which took anything away from the amazing atmosphere of Dimitsana, the hills or the gorge. We felt like we were suspended in the air, sometimes above clouds, hanging over the Louisos Gorge. We only stayed one night and spent the next day visiting the incredible Prodromos and Philosophou monasteries. Hadn't seen anything like that before. For active visitors interested in something extra besides than beaches and historic sites Dimitsana well repays the drive from Tripoli. The roads are good, but quite steep and windy. Perfect if you like that kind of thing. Plenty of nice places to eat, we enjoyed the Drimonas taverna, on the way out of Dimitsana after the Piraeus Bank. Wish we had longer to enjoy hiking the mountain trails.
Loved the old town with the cobbled, pedestrian streets, beautiful buildings, quaint staircases, orange trees, fountains, Staikopoulou Street and Syntagma/Sidagmatos Square. Wonderful assortment of tavernas tucked along the narrow lanes or facing the harbour. One of the prettiest towns in the Peloponnese.
Tolo is a fab holiday location which is ideal as a base for exploring the Peloponnese including the old capital Napflio, Epidavros, Olympia and the islands Pros, Hydra and Sorted. There are many beach tavernas that serve food. I loved eating at the Barbarressa. The Greek night at the Aris Hotel was excellent with live music and dancing.
Nafplio is a pleasant town with lots of interesting independent shops in the small streets and alleyways that make up the pretty old town. It is quite touristy and small cruise ships dock in the harbour so even in early October it was quite crowded on Sunday though much quieter on Monday. It's an easy place to wander around with loads of cafés, restaurants and (unusually for Greece) ice cream shops. It has quite a cosmopolitan feel. Palamidi Castle towers over the town and it's well worth the 900 or so step climb to the castle to see the views! We also visited the Folklore museum which is a charming snapshot of ages past. At €2 per person it's a bargain! If you're looking for a place to mooch and eat for a couple of days, Nafplio is a good choice but if you're wanting to get a feel of the authentic Peloponnese go elsewhere.
Isthmia
Pristinely clean, built and appointed with love and attention to detail. The property is amazing and we could spend days without leaving, yet it was also perfectly located for exploring the Peloponnese and areas around Athens. We booked for 3 days but extended our stay to 6 because it was so hard to leave! George and Lenia are truly kind and gracious hosts and are available for anything you need. As an added bonus, the apartment is completely accessible with no stairs anywhere, and very secure private parking right outside the door.
Ancient Epidauros
This is a very well-appointed property in one of the most beautiful corners of the Peloponnese. Hosts are incredibly helpful and always available with a smile for whatever you might need. Cleanliness is outstanding, and parking is readily available in the yard/garden (long cars might find the entry a bit difficult, but this is Greece, so no worries) everything is thoughtfully designed for an exceptional short to mid-term getaway. I warmly recommend Citrus Garden and will surely be back with great pleasure.
Alexandra was an excellent host. She was very kind to us, she gave us great recommendations for Nauplia and the Peloponnese. The room was perfect for a couple and everything was very clean. The hotel feels like going to your family house, everything is super cozy and she will make you feel at home. She saved a parking spot for us and gave us water and fruits for dinner and breakfast. Do not believe what you read online the hotel deserves way more than stated. I would highly recommend this hotel.
My wife cried when we left. We experienced nothing like Pirgos on our trip through the Peloponnese. The service and hotel gave 5 star treatment from the moment we arrived until the minute we left. Sakis, the owner, carried our bags to the car, treated us to wine, ouza, and great conversations. The hotel has been in his family for 300 years, but completely remodeled with white walls and modern conveniences. It reminded me of the islands, because you go to sleep to sounds of the sea.
We stayed in Akrata beach to visit Peloponnese. It was the best trip of our lives and our stay at the hotel was part of the reason. It felt like home from the beginning, owners were super friendly and hospitable, personnel was professional and accommodating, our room was roomy and extremely clean. We had some of the best breakfast we had in a hotel and espresso was to die for. We recommend the hotel to anybody and we are definitely coming back to stay more days soon!
Loutraki
Apartment was beyond our expectations. It was spacious, clean and with great location. Hosts were very kind, hostile and communication with them was great. Kitchen is fully equipped and in apartment is everything that was needed. Location is also great, on few minutes of walk is beach, coffee shops, super markets and bakeries. Loutraki is great city with many possibilities for all tastes. Also it is great location for visiting Peloponnese and other beautiful beaches.
Hotel with a most friendly, welcoming atmosphere. Our room was spacious, equipped with anything we could need (especially a fridge) and spotlessly clean. We wanted to start our tour of Greece with Mycenae. Argos proved to be a perfect base (just 11 km from the archaeological site - easily accessible with one of the many local taxis for a very affordable price). The town of Argos itself offers great views of the eastern Peloponnese from its spectacular Larissa castle.
Monemvasia
In our tour around Peloponnese we booked this Hotel for 1 day and we end up staying another day. ( wish we could stay longer but we will definitely recommend it and come back too ) ♥️ Hotel is located 2-3 min driving away from Monemvasia small village and 5 min driving to the Castle. Don’t doubt on asking Alexandru for recommendations, his suggestions made our staying memorable. Overall this location deserves 10+, quiet, clean!! Amazing view, better than pictures 🤍🩵
Nafplio
Excellent!!! The apartment is newly renovated, has all the amenities just like home! The hosts were great, responsive and helpful! We got a lot of extras such as wine (4 bottles!), a cake, coffee, spices, oranges for making juice and so much more! It has a private parking and a nice balcony, washing machine and a very well equipped kitchen. The location is perfect for "star" short trips around the Peloponnese. 25 minutes walk from the old town.
Really cosy and luxurious hotel with great service. The rooms were spacious, really clean and with nice view. Very comfortable beds. The furniture and the decoration in the rooms was beautiful. The hotel followed all their covid-19 measures in a responsible way. Wonderful breakfast, Elisavet was very caring and offered great service. We had a great stay! Gytheio is a bit boring but the hotel is one of the best in the area of South Peloponnese.
The apartment has one of the best locations in Monemvasia. High up on the hill you overlook the famous island and surrounding mountains. Its a 2 min walk into town and 10 minutes over to the island. The apartment is a real home, with everything you need to stay for a night or a couple of weeks! The apartment was one of the highlights of our visit to the Peloponnese with a view from the patio and roof that I will never forget.
Over the years this beach hotel has provided time and again a very nice accommodation any time going to Patras. Have enjoyed staying there regardless of the season. The premises received a good renovation just before the Athens Games. It is time to have it once again rechecked and work on its maintenance. The hotel has beautiful view of the sea and the bridge that connect Peloponnese and mainland. Incredible sunsets!
This is a very stylish and comfortable apartment with high quality furniture, one of the best apartments we have ever booked in various countries and towns. It was perfect for 5 people. Welcome cake and other treats were a pleasant surprise. Even lights were prepared when we entered. Modern Sparta may not be the most wonderful town in Greece, but is in a central position to visit various places in the Peloponnese.
Gythio
A spacious and very well-equipped apartment with wonderful and kind hosts. Thoughtfully furnished with stunning views across the bay eastwards from the panoramic windows. Large private balcony with sunshade. A good bakery nearby too. Great recommendations for local visits around the Mani peninsula and beyond. The best accommodation of our fortnight in the Peloponnese.
Korinthos
The property is spacious with three big bedrooms and has a large private terrace with a wonderful elevated view of the sea and the distant mountains. It is only a short distance by car to a good supermarket, nice restaurants, and Ancient Corinth. A better place from which to explore both southern mainland Greece and the northern Peloponnese would be hard to find.
Gorgeous boutique hotel in the centre of Gytheio. Comfort, decoration and support from staff, all on the highest level. No need to move the car: super market, caffès, restaurants and rest amenities are just few minutes away. The facility is definitely recommended for discovering the beauties of south Peloponnese or just to enjoy some relaxed days.
Marathopoli
Great value for money! Lovely hotel, with great and helpful staff. The breakfast was great and diverse. It's just a couple of minutes walking distance from the town center with the taverns and cafes. The room was spacious and clean. The pool is also very nice with salt water from the sea. Just what we needed in this part of the Peloponnese!
This was the best hotel during our 20 day trip in the Peloponnese Very nice owner with family and very nice ladies at the breakfast Good breakfast and comfortable rooms with beautiful sea vieuw 5 minutes walk to 3 restaurants and beach with all the facilities 10 minutes drive to plaka and lakos Beach and Leonidio Tophotel.. Great location
Lovely old refurbished buildings in a fantastic rural location with a spectacular view. A good base to explore this part of the Peloponnese. Good breakfast and dinner eaten by the pool, under the shade of trees and with the view towards the sea. Would recommend for those who enjoy a hotel a bit off the beaten track. I would return!
Kalamata
Good place on the Peloponnese for digital nomads like us. Small apartment. Cleverly designed space use. 500 m down is the sea. A quiet road leads there. Good wifi. Good restaurant next door. Come! Bring your friends. Stay longer... in the off-season, Peloponnese has it all. For more ideas follow us on Facebook - Peloponnese Living.
