it is a very beautifal city with lots to see and to do from the little pitoresque streets to the big castles and churches to one of my favorites the via vittorio emmanuele we had some small appetizers at a very beautifal spot near the cathedral wich you can climb to the top of by car palermo is easy but if you rent one choose a small or little one what i didnt like very much was that some places are not as clean or safe even if walking in group but palermo is a must do if you ask meGuest review byKobeBelgium - 8.0
Catania is a beautiful city with a rich history, full of...
Catania is a beautiful city with a rich history, full of interesting places and an amazing atmosphere. However, it is not very clean by European standards - there is garbage almost everywhere, and some of the buildings look rather neglected. On the other hand, I find that to be one of the most fascinating things about Catania: despite these flaws, the city still looks great, and the difference in lifestyle that causes this situation is part of its unique charm. The food was excellent, and if you choose restaurants based on reviews, every dinner becomes an experience. If your budget allows, it’s better to rent a car, as public transport is a disaster (again, by European standards). The buses themselves are fine, though sometimes dirty, but the real issue lies in the schedules and lack of information. Bus stops have no timetables, some buses arrive 30 minutes late or are cancelled altogether, and every day they were rerouted from the main street from 3 p.m. without any information about the new routes. That said, the intercity buses were excellent. I can wholeheartedly recommend a trip to picturesque Taormina or Syracuse - the buses run frequently, are reliable, and the tickets are reasonably priced. Taormina has more beautiful beaches than Catania, but there are also hidden gems to be found along Catania’s coastline. I especially appreciated how the city cares for its citizens, with frequent water faucets and public showers and restrooms at some beaches. If you embrace the city’s atmosphere and its way of life, you will have an amazing trip.Guest review byMichal - 10.0
Ortigia is where you need to stay and be
Ortigia is where you need to stay and be Perfect for strolling through the streets, shopping, eating, drinking, soaking up the atmosphere and people watching There isn't a beach as such on Ortigia-mostly stone areas or areas with platforms. Best bet the beach club Zefiro Solurium. Which is next to the most beach like beach. And whilst it is miniscule, dipping in the sea is nice. And steps from the beach club Moon in Ortigia is a plant based restaurant and cocktail place. Amazing! In Siracusa itself a visit to the archaeological Park is a must. Very interestingGuest review bykayeUnited Kingdom - 10.0

We were in the area of Taormina for three days and could have used more time- because there are so many other places to visit as side trips as well. Lovely town - crowded in the evenings but we still were able to find availability at good restaurants. Besides the high end shopping there were some lovely boutiques as well. Wonderful bakeries and cafes. Cable car down to the beach. Many hotels have walking paths to town , but may have to walk in road a bit for some of them.Guest review bySarah - 10.0

We were there in the height of season (mid August) and the beach was chokka. Very grateful we had a hire car and could head east along the coast to quieter options; 30 mins to the pebble beach of Costa Turchina beach.Guest review byJenniAustralia - 8.0

I love both beaches and lively city centers at the same time and Trapani can offer that. A perfect cable car trip directly from Trapani to historic Erice. A beautiful sunset and a view of the illuminated Trapani. Interesting places in the vicinity: Segesta and Selinunte archeological parks, the very unusual Nuova Gibellina (plus Cretto di Buri) and bustling Palermo with majestic monuments. There are plenty of great restaurants in Trapani. I can't miss the Meno Tredici gelateria in the harbor and the great arancini at Al Pollero da Roberto.Guest review byMiroslavCzech Republic - 8.0

Indications for people who driving there are poor, I was lost, I pass in front the entrance without realizing it, poor indicators. I stop and I find another car lost too. The car parking too expensive, the entrance tickets expensive, I went really early before there were too many people, I was able to take selfies for the more important monuments without any wait line. You must be ready with plenty of water, if you are going in summer time because its a really long walk under very strong summer lights. I guess you must see it at least once on your life, like everything relevant from our pass times. Obviously I am a simply tourist without knowledge about architecture. For those that understand I am sure must be fascinating.Guest review byencarniUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Lovely old town with wonderful beach and crystal clear water. Vast amount of restaurants to choose from but the more popular ones you need to book in advance. Our son's have allergies and most of the restaurants could not cater for them, but a big thank you to La Chimera restaurant who did. If you plan to visit the nature reserve or walk along the coast make sure to have decent walking footwear as it is very uneven and rocky.Guest review byDavidUnited Kingdom - 8.0

Giardini-Naxos and the surrounding towns are, however, unusually dirty, with a lot of litter scattered along the streets. The beach, on the other hand, has wonderfully clean and clear water. People are helpful. Traveling around, take time. The only rush is in traffic. If you travel by rental car, it helps to have a good map reader in the passenger seat and a calm mind. Honking is simply a part of the traffic culture. A motorcyclist may pass you on either the right or the left. Focus on the traffic is the most important thing. When choosing a rental car, you should go for one with medium power. Otherwise, it may not make it up the hills. We had a Toyota Yaris 1500 Petrol Hybrid Automatic. It was ok. An automatic gearbox makes driving easier.Guest review byMarikaEstonia - 10.0

You can rent bikes, electric ones if it's too hot. They are available at several locations. The prices are reasonable and you can travel the entire island. The water is clean and it is worth stopping here for a day.Guest review byVesnaSlovenia
