Great wine selection, the Chablis was very nice. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. Convenient shuttle service. Excellent value!

It was one of the best hotel we have been to in Japan. We loved it!

- The room with tatami area and open-air bath immaculate!
- room is very spacious in all aspects (toilet, bedroom, living room, bath). It is even bigger than it looks in the pictures
- large comfortable beds
- delicious dinner and breakfast served in a private dining room
- lots of activities to do - night light show at the "Spirited Away" bridge, massage chair, pantry/ lounge, and If the private onsen in your room is not enough for you, you can explore the various shared onsen.
- nice items at the souvenir shop
- friendly and accommodating staff
- great location - it is just a minute walk to and from the bus that takes you to the train station, likewise it is walking distance to many cafes and to Asunaro which serves chicken tonkatsu that your grandparents will serve to their favourite grandchild.:)

I loved that we had clothes to wear and slippers. I really loved that it was so clean and the rooms smell good! The complimentary ramen, ice cream and yogurt were really a good addition! The ramen tasted amazing! I also enjoyed the onsen and the outdoor onsen. It's so clean and regulated. I will definitely book in Dormy Inns next time! I was just recommended by my brother. THe service was also very exceptional!

The location was great. We could book onsen for 45 minutes and it was very relaxing. The buffet in the morning and evening was beyond expectation. Massage chairs were an added luxury. The shop on the first floor had everything needed and they even sold Obento, so if you don't want to book meals you can buy packed lunches and even warm them in microwave.

The staff is very welcoming although communication is a bit tricky. The hotel rooms are very nice, very Japanese-esque traditional culture. The onsen is very very nice. It’s also near the top of the stone way, pretty near to the temple at the top

Kusatsu is one of my favourite onsen towns!
Kusatsu is one of my favourite onsen towns! It would definitely be nice to spend two nights exploring the city and its baths. In the summer, hiking routes are available, in the winter there is a ski resort close by, and the different onsen spots are easy to access by foot. There are plenty of restaurants in the town.

Had a local friend to drive us round which made a big difference.
Tomioka silk mill, climb and gondola on Mt Haruna where we could see Mt Fuji in the distance, Haruna shrine and the amazing walk through broadleaf forest dotted with gigantic cedars, the big lady Takasaki Byakue Dai Kannon statue, and the 5th century Kofun burial mounds/ archeological site and museum.

It was a lovely place to visit!
It was a lovely place to visit! We climbed up to the Tenjin observation deck from the trail that begins behind a small shrine. It’s a challenging climb but well-marked and there are ropes the whole way to help pull yourself up tricky parts. We ate at the little Italian restaurant near Tanigawa Lodge and Coffee Roastery which I highly recommend, the pasta is great and they make homemade plum wine. I wish I could have done one more day to enjoy the onsens too.

Nakanojo is an amazing area in Shima, giving access to several wonderul onsen and hiking opportunities. A quiet spot that is perfect to relax and enjoy the spa baths. There is a small connivence store for basic goods and several small cafe to grab coffee or other light meals. It is easily walkable for those who like to hike in scenic mountain towns.

This was a great weekend trip. This Onsen town is historic. With the Yubatake (hot water field) in the center of the town, there are so many places such as stores to shop, and then restaurants/cafes to go to. There are numerous Onsen's to try, and also tattoo friendly Onsen's as well for those who have tattoos. I booked a private Onsen in advance and had it to myself for an hour. This is a great alternative as well if you are not comfortable with a traditional experience of an Onsen. There is also the traditional bath house that puts on a show several times a day to see Yumomi (traditional hot water stirring). It's a must see.

I cam for a conference at G Messe. There is practically nothing to do, eat, or see between Takasaki Station and G Messe. If you are at G Messe and you need lunch, you can walk 6 minutes to a McDonalds or convenient store, or 10 minutes to some chain stores, or 18 minutes back to the station if you want any of kind of (still quite bad) variety. It's shocking that there would be a food desert in exactly the place that most visitors to Takasaki will go.

Nice location to visit for max two days, touristic but not too over-crowded and people in general very friendly. Some of the Onsen are amazing - if you like it - and the ski resort (if open since top part closes fast with some wind and snow) is small and somewhat outdated, but still nice for 1-2 days. Some restaurants offer good value for money, but reserve on time and be prepared to have diner around 18/18:30 latest since everything closes early.

While waiting for the shuttle bus to pick us up in Jomo Kogen, we got suggestion from the lady officer in Information Center to visit Tsukiyono garden. We came in mid April 2025 and there are still a lot of sakura. whereever you shoot your camera, the result of the photo is amazing. there is also a small grocery that serve udon/ramen as well. I bought a watermelon in that grocery and the lady in Udon stall lend me her knife to cut it. the watermelon is very small, compared to what I used to eat in Indonesia, but this minakami watermelon is very juicy and its flesh is so thick yet tender.
