- From $130.55 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.9Excellent - What previous guests thought, 809 reviewsI like their amenities. The drink bar offers a wide variety of options, including soft drinks, coffee, and soup. They also provide soft-serve ice cream and snacks for kids. Baby essentials are included in their amenities as well—diapers, baby lotion, baby shampoo, baby oil, and bathing supplies. The play area is spacious enough for children to enjoy, and the relaxation area is also wide and comfortable. In addition, the staff are friendly and helpful. Some staff members speak English, so foreign guests should have no trouble checking in. We love this hotel, especially because it’s child-friendly and family-friendly.Guest review byShirleyJapan
- From $214.86 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.5Very Good - What previous guests thought, 2,271 reviewsThe spa was really great for casual baths. The cold spa wasn't freezing but cold enough to feel get the shivers, the baths were hot enough to stimulate the skin, the sauna was spacious enough. The free beer token and after-bath accommodations were the cherry on top. I'm very appreciative of my stay in Sendai and I think a good amount of that is because of this hotel.Guest review byElliotCanada
- From $115.59 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 7.4Good - What previous guests thought, 894 reviewsAmazing service, very clean and tidy. Close to the shopping street and railway station. The subway tunnel is right infront of the hotel as you can see. To the right, next to it is mcdonalds. And opposite to the hotel is a nice cafe too. The hotel reception looks like a palace entry.Guest review byDevanCanada

I sadly only got to visit around the station area both alone, with a friend and some locals and it was the highlight of my trip. The huge shopping area starting from the station extends for many blocs and has everything you could ever want from arcades to second hand shops to all sorts of restaurants and cafes. The malls next to the station have all your sort of branded shops like Gundam Base and Pokemon Center. The nightlife is pretty nice and the few places we hit while wandering with a friend from Sendai were very tasty and everyone's super friendly!Guest review byAlessandroItaly - 8.0

Declared one of Japan's top 3 scenic views, this is a cute hamlet to get away from big city travel. They have wonderful oyster/seafood restaurants, beautiful shrines, and a gorgeous waterfront. Easy daytrip from Sendai, but worth a night's stay if you have the time.Guest review byCarolynCanada - 10.0

The town of Shiogama is what we Americans call a "bedroom" community of a large city - in this case being Sendai. It has all the basic amenities that a traveler needs (restaurants, convenience stores, etc.). All the action that a typical seeks is in Sendai which is only but a 15 to 20 minute ride by JR Rail. In my opinion, staying in Shiogama has its advantages in terms of affordability (especially for B&Bs) since Sendai can be quite pricey. Travelers should take that into consideration.Guest review byErwinUnited States - 10.0

Zao has a property alpine village, the mountain is great, very scenic. The snow quality is great due to the colder temperatures. The only thing we didnt like was the lift lines on the cable car or ropeway as they call it and the gondola to the top to see the snow monsters. The lift lines were 1-2hrs long due to all of the sightseers. They have a priority line and bus loads of people turn up after you have been waiting for an 1hr and go straight in front of you.Guest review byAdrianAustralia - 8.0
(1) Great hotel with close proximity to Sendai Station.
(1) Great hotel with close proximity to Sendai Station. (2) Staffs are very friendly, although made a little error in breakfast choice, but hotel did make correction immediately. (3) Public bath is very good, although the floor is a little slippery where guests may fall if walking fast.Guest review byAnonymousUnited States - 10.0
I had a fantastic stay at this ryokan.
I had a fantastic stay at this ryokan. The indoor onsen was wonderfully relaxing, offering a peaceful and soothing experience. What truly stood out, though, was the incredible staff. From the moment we arrived, they made us feel like family—attentive, kind, and always ready to help with a smile. Their genuine hospitality really made the stay special. The room was comfortable and traditional, with everything we needed for a cozy, restful night. I highly recommend this ryokan for anyone looking for exceptional service and a peaceful getaway.Guest review byWolfgangJapan - 8.0

I have to say the view nearby from Matsushima is simply amazing (~30 min by train from Sendai station)! I also very much enjoyed the walk through the mausoleum grounds, but the rest is very much "just a city", and I didn't find anything else that was particularly interesting for me. The local specialty of beef tongue is nice, but quite pricey for what it is (it should be noted I'm mainly vegetarian, so meat-lovers might feel differently!).Guest review byRafael JamesSwitzerland - 8.0

Matsushima is a small tourist city, quite a few coaches and tour parties. The main attraction is a boat trip around the bay which is recommended, although it may be nicer in one of the smaller boats. Don't miss the local temples, which have lovely gardens, and in Autumn, light ups, which shouldn't be missed.Guest review byDavidUnited Kingdom
