All the bungalows are next to the laguna. You have large windows and mosquito nets. The bungalows are very clean and spacious. The small fridge was very much appreciated. You have canoes, SUPs, and live vests at your disposal. Parking is convenient.

Very relaxed and beautiful place 10 minute drive from Bacalar. Everyone there was so friendly and helpful which made the stay that much more special. Kayaks and stand up paddle boards can be used for free so they were great to take out. Breakfast was lovely as well! Couldn’t recommend more!

Wonderful newly furnished property right on the lake. The staff were incredibly welcoming and helpful and couldn’t do enough to make our stay enjoyable. The ability to book the palapa for a private meal on the lake was a huge highlight for us. The food was also absolutely delicious - expect fine dining!

Fiesta Inn suited all our needs for our visit to Chetumal. Getting off the flight from Mexico City it was a nice surprise to see the hotel shuttle waiting. We found the location perfect near shops, cafes and restaurants. Staff were most helpful with any queries or questions.

Karen was an excellent host. She was always available and helpful, especially when my husband lost his cell phone at the Lazy River, she followed up, assisting with the language, to luckily get it returned.

Great little Beach Town.

Great little Beach Town. One main walking street that has stores, bars and restaurants plus lots of beach clubs. I really like how simple and cute iMahahual is. After 6:30pm lots of street food stands magically appear around the Town Plaza. Delicious. If coming from a bigger town I would recommend bringing with you your favourite snacks & fruits as Mahahual is limited for cheap groceries.

Cute little city with charming port. Easy to get around. We ate at La Brata... service was ok.. food was good...pricing was ridiculous! I am pretty sure I received the gringo pricing (Beware). (2) 8- piece wing orders, Grilled chicken salad, 2 margaritas was $120 USD.

It's a bit sad that around 90% if not more of the "coast" of...

It's a bit sad that around 90% if not more of the "coast" of the lagoon is privatised. Its hardly possible to "just go for a swim" without paying one of the many private beaches or go to a waterpark or get a daypass at a hotel... If you do that (or of course book a boat tour) the lagoon is very beatiful (though often pretty crowded).That said, there are cute places in the town and a lot of murals which I liked. I still thing 4 nights is the maximum i would recommend unless one has a car to propperly explore places further away, too.

I don¥t really like beach club type of beaches so when I first arrived I found it too busy for my liking, but then I walked away from the busy part and found some amazing places which I had all to myself.

Not much happening here.

Not much happening here. Los Comales restaurant was great and it is 2 blocks from the Fiesta Inn. We arrived from Playa Del Carmen on the ADO bus and took a taxi to the Fiesta Inn. Main purpose for visiting Chetumal was to take the ferry to Belize.

The Lagoon is fantastic and I would highly recommend doing a...

The Lagoon is fantastic and I would highly recommend doing a boat tour and going to Los Rapidos. I personally think it would be nicest to book a hotel on the Lagoon south of Bacalar and simply just enjoy the Lagoon. Town is nothing special.

Mahahual was rundown and uncared for.

Mahahual was rundown and uncared for. For a tourist destination we noticed a lot of uncollected rubbish on the beaches and the tourist spots needed a refresh. It is highly recommended for diving as they have a reef but again the seaweed is a major problem and has not been tackled by the local authorities bearing in mind that swimming is the main activity there.
