Like the street art most. Very nicely drawn and painted. Unfortunately the paints are wearing out, may need a fresh coat of paint. Getting around on foot wasn't easy because there were no pedestrian crossing in George Town. Had to run across roads with children in tow. Getting around by bus is easy and affordable. Met many friendly people in Penang, especially helpful with directions. Shopping and food choices are great in Gurney Plaza - our favourite shopping mall.
The hawker food is everywhere and the price of food are cheap and taste. A week isn't good enough travel around Penang Island. Will travel to Penang again soon.
George Town is a cool little city with loads of culture, street art as well as colonial influences. The hawker/street food is great and ridiculously cheap (2/3 small plates for under £5!). I found 1 day/2 nights was enough me to see the city (with a well deserved foot massage included) although I didn't do any excursions or see nearby towns (gurney drive/battu ferrenghi/Penang hill). If you only have a few days it's still definitely worth a visit. Be sure to try char keow teow, the different mee's and the Penang laksa. Use the trishaw drivers to go between attractions when your feet hurt and they might show you a few other things on the way. 😀 I found the local people to be really friendly and helpful in George Town.
The town itself is adorable. So much fun street art. Loved my trip to Penang hill & Kek Lok Si. Went to Batu ferrenghi beach which wasn’t anything special. Gets very hot during the day and the beach is 30 minutes away and no pools anywhere.
Experiencing Chinese New Year in Penang was a great experience. The food options are amazing, but I probably gained 2 kilos in 8 days lol. Friendly and welcoming residents.
Batu Feringghi is suitable for beach lover or water sport lover. There is a lot of adventure activities can be done with your friend such as jungle trekking at Taman Negara, Monkey Beach, Escape and etc. The transportation that i used was rapid penang. It is easy to get the bus in that area for me to move around this penang island. The food place that should be visited is Deen Maju, Padang Kota Lama, Urban Artisan, Chendol Teo Chew and etc.Penang is a food paradise.
The town has its rickety charm enhanced by the abundance of picturesque street food stalls and colorful murals. It's small enough to do everything on foot and flat to enjoy riding a bicycle. Buses frequently take you to beaches, and hikers can enjoy a steep climb to Penang Hill.
A wonderful little town. Could have stayed a little bit longer. Definitely should check penang hill and butterworth. Great Malaysian food. Since we visited during Ramadan tomes there are makeshift stalls with loads of foods.
Bayan Lepas in Penang is a laid back yet progressive community. It has both industrial factories and preserved heritage sites which comprises the balance of the place. Most of my experience with the people there are generally nice and friendly. I definitely would love to go back and explore more about the place especially with their local food.
The charming part of Penang Island has a lot to offer for the artsy or need-a-getaway explorer. Tucked in the north east of the island, it has combination of amazing street food, museums, art show and bars (try to find the speakeasies to add more fun) The well-kept colonial and Chinese traders buildings added a character which makes the city enjoyable to random stroll at night. Don’t get me start with the food, because it is one of the most amazing street food I have ever taste; relatively cheap with good quality.
Batu Ferringhi
I recently stayed at the Hard Rock Hotel in Penang, and it was an exceptional experience. The water park-themed pool is amazing and perfect for both kids and adults to enjoy. The rooms are beautifully designed with the iconic Hard Rock theme, featuring stunning interiors and immaculate cleanliness. The staff is outstanding—always smiling and ready to help. The hotel's proximity to the beach adds to its charm, making it easy to enjoy the sun and sand. Overall, Hard Rock Hotel Penang is a fantastic destination for a memorable vacation.
We stayed in the 2-bedroom Executive apartment on the 29th floor: The apartment was new, clean, modern, fitted with a fully functioning kitchen, a washer/dryer, three TVs (2 in each room, 1 in the common-area living room), and two bathrooms. Guests have access to the rooftop pool and gym as well. Apartment comes with free breakfast every morning. Hotel is conveniently located in Bukit Mertarjam, a short drive to Penang island and other attractions. Family-friendly hotel with reasonable prices and friendly staff. Highly recommended!
Batu Ferringhi
My experience at Parkroyal Hotel Penang exceeded my expectations in every way. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, making me feel at home from the moment I arrived. The room was not only spacious and comfortable but also impeccably clean, creating a relaxing atmosphere throughout my stay. Every detail, from the well-maintained facilities to the quality service, reflected great value for money. I truly felt that the overall experience was worth every penny, and I wouldn’t hesitate to return
Kek Lok Si Temple is around 5-10 min walking distance. Penang Hill is 15-20min walk. Easy to find local food around. The Ayer Itam market is just around the corner. You can find famous Sister's curry me at the market in the morning, the famous duck rice at Kedai Kopi Ju Huat for dinner. Laksa is also around the same area for lunch. Hotel serve nice char kuey teow and other breakfast too. We reach hotel early, the staff allowed us to checked in early. Room is clean and tidy.
I wanted to express my deepest gratitude to the stuffs of The Century Aigoh Hotel Great particularly for the exceptional service, assistance, dedication, attentive care and guidance provided by Pauline during my stay in the hotel for 3 days 2 nights. Pauline's utmost professionalism and kindness made my stay truly memorable in Penang. I look forward to returning and experiencing Pauline's outstanding service again. Thanks, Pauline for making our trip great in Penang.
George Town
This is a non-existent property. Please secure the image of the address 6c Gottlieb Road Penang on Google maps and you will see that it is a private mansion with locked gates and no indication that it is a hotel. I had to seek alternative accommodation at another hotel. Obviously Booking,Com did not do due diligence to check out this scam and customers forfeited our payment because of 'no show'. I expect to have a refund of the payment deducted from my card.
Tanjung Bungah
I did not like the property. The hotel itself is old and needs updating..lifts, plumbing (brown water, yuck!) and room furniture. Hotel does not have an airport shuttle, and Grab drivers would not come to me early AM, so I missed my flight off Penang. The property is overpriced for dirty room and unhelpful staff. I’ve stayed in rooms that cost half as much in other parts of Malaysia and were twice as good! Disgraceful this is on booking.com.
Batu Ferringhi
I loved everything in the Hotel, the King terrace suite with bath tub, the seaview from our room and balcony, the balcony which was so huge, the swimming pool for adults and kids, the restaurants, teddyville museum which is also one of the attractions in Penang and Especially all the staffs who made us feel so welcomed and surprised us thru out our stay... No words to express as it just exceeded our expectations 😍😍😍
The counter staff who went to check the room cheated, when it was time to check out, he checked the room and changed the towels, saying he took them from the room I stayed in and said they were dirty. have to pay an additional RM31.80. have to be careful while staying at this Rate E-Red Hotel Bayu Mutiara, Bukit Mertajam, Penang. **Be careful, they are very clever and easy to deceive customers
Kepala Batas
- Very responsive and friendly hosts, they also have me a bicycle to cycle around rice fields in the morning and offered a nice breakfast with a huuuge kettle of coffee! - Opportunity to stay in a traditional Malaysian house and learn how locals live - Very safe for solo female travellers - Convenient location - relatively close to both Jerai and Penang; Grab also delivers food!
Location wise - very strategic, View wise - you can get apartment with sea view + penang bridge, very clearly. Apartment wise - Very spacious, clean, fully equipped and super comfy bed Facilities wise - Various kind of pools, 3 levels gym and game room Management process - very smooth check in/out process, and very attentive. Parking - free gated and indoor parking.
It’s vintage feel makes this hotel to be different. Even though the hotel aged, but it is so well maintain, it is an competitive price as you could feel this hotel was a luxury hotel many years ago. What was great is you don’t need to pay extra for parking. If they keep at this price point it might become my first choice the next time I visit penang.
My stay at Lexis Hotel Penang was amazing overall. The room was incredibly spacious and well thought out, providing a high level of privacy with the private pool. The beds and pillows were exceptionally comfortable, with the beds being larger than a normal king size. Everything about the room contributed to a relaxing and enjoyable stay.
New apartment, easily accessible to town and bridge. Apartment is equipped with light kitchen and washing machine. Beds are clean and comfortable. Excellent sky view at Level 42. Beautiful sunrise overseeing Penang Bridge at Level 11 infinite pool & jacuzzi area. Double floor gym looks good though we have no time to use it this time.
Batu Ferringhi
All top rated! If you want to have a relax just go there and have a village life. Penang’s national park is very near to the house if u ride the bike Tony provided and all are nature around. It also provide rambutan and many other fruits. Tony is very warmhearted. I will back there next year if I go to Malaysia again.
Bagan Jermal
Good location near Tesco and many other shops/restaurants, yet easy to drive to key attractions such as Batu Feringghi beach, Komtar and Penang Hill Apartment block looks new, not crowded when we were there. Fully equipped with iron, washing machine, dryer, detergent, towels.
By far the best hotel in Penang. Extremely clean, fabulous staff, fabulous pool, excellent location. I've been away for month and stayed at over 10 hotels but the G Hotels gurney gets 10+ stars. Thanks once again for a fabulous stay. Will see you again next year.
George Town
We decided not to live in George Town since this is not the first time we were in Penang. This hotel exceeded our expectation by the convenient neighbourhood, not too far from convenient stores, restaurants, etc. Walking distance to the beach, 10-15 minute drive to George town.
It is a good hotel for a short stay to Georgetown, Penang. Friendly staff and smoothly check in and check out process.Parking at basement but limited. Need to contact hotel staff for parking availability.Simple and comfortable decoration.Near with interesting places.
Wow Hotel in Penang truly lives up to its name! From the moment I arrived, I was blown away by the chic, contemporary design of the hotel. The lobby has a sleek, modern feel, and the check-in process was smooth and quick, thanks to the warm and attentive staff.
