Like the street art most. Very nicely drawn and painted. Unfortunately the paints are wearing out, may need a fresh coat of paint. Getting around on foot wasn't easy because there were no pedestrian crossing in George Town. Had to run across roads with children in tow. Getting around by bus is easy and affordable. Met many friendly people in Penang, especially helpful with directions. Shopping and food choices are great in Gurney Plaza - our favourite shopping mall.
The hawker food is everywhere and the price of food are cheap and taste. A week isn't good enough travel around Penang Island. Will travel to Penang again soon.
George Town is a cool little city with loads of culture, street art as well as colonial influences. The hawker/street food is great and ridiculously cheap (2/3 small plates for under £5!). I found 1 day/2 nights was enough me to see the city (with a well deserved foot massage included) although I didn't do any excursions or see nearby towns (gurney drive/battu ferrenghi/Penang hill). If you only have a few days it's still definitely worth a visit. Be sure to try char keow teow, the different mee's and the Penang laksa. Use the trishaw drivers to go between attractions when your feet hurt and they might show you a few other things on the way. 😀 I found the local people to be really friendly and helpful in George Town.
The town itself is adorable. So much fun street art. Loved my trip to Penang hill & Kek Lok Si. Went to Batu ferrenghi beach which wasn’t anything special. Gets very hot during the day and the beach is 30 minutes away and no pools anywhere.
Experiencing Chinese New Year in Penang was a great experience. The food options are amazing, but I probably gained 2 kilos in 8 days lol. Friendly and welcoming residents.
Batu Feringghi is suitable for beach lover or water sport lover. There is a lot of adventure activities can be done with your friend such as jungle trekking at Taman Negara, Monkey Beach, Escape and etc. The transportation that i used was rapid penang. It is easy to get the bus in that area for me to move around this penang island. The food place that should be visited is Deen Maju, Padang Kota Lama, Urban Artisan, Chendol Teo Chew and etc.Penang is a food paradise.
The town has its rickety charm enhanced by the abundance of picturesque street food stalls and colorful murals. It's small enough to do everything on foot and flat to enjoy riding a bicycle. Buses frequently take you to beaches, and hikers can enjoy a steep climb to Penang Hill.
A wonderful little town. Could have stayed a little bit longer. Definitely should check penang hill and butterworth. Great Malaysian food. Since we visited during Ramadan tomes there are makeshift stalls with loads of foods.
Bayan Lepas in Penang is a laid back yet progressive community. It has both industrial factories and preserved heritage sites which comprises the balance of the place. Most of my experience with the people there are generally nice and friendly. I definitely would love to go back and explore more about the place especially with their local food.
The charming part of Penang Island has a lot to offer for the artsy or need-a-getaway explorer. Tucked in the north east of the island, it has combination of amazing street food, museums, art show and bars (try to find the speakeasies to add more fun) The well-kept colonial and Chinese traders buildings added a character which makes the city enjoyable to random stroll at night. Don’t get me start with the food, because it is one of the most amazing street food I have ever taste; relatively cheap with good quality.
Bukit Mertajam
We stayed in the 2-bedroom Executive apartment on the 29th floor: The apartment was new, clean, modern, fitted with a fully functioning kitchen, a washer/dryer, three TVs (2 in each room, 1 in the common-area living room), and two bathrooms. Guests have access to the rooftop pool and gym as well. Apartment comes with free breakfast every morning. Hotel is conveniently located in Bukit Mertarjam, a short drive to Penang island and other attractions. Family-friendly hotel with reasonable prices and friendly staff. Highly recommended!
Kek Lok Si Temple is around 5-10 min walking distance. Penang Hill is 15-20min walk. Easy to find local food around. The Ayer Itam market is just around the corner. You can find famous Sister's curry me at the market in the morning, the famous duck rice at Kedai Kopi Ju Huat for dinner. Laksa is also around the same area for lunch. Hotel serve nice char kuey teow and other breakfast too. We reach hotel early, the staff allowed us to checked in early. Room is clean and tidy.
This was my second time staying at the B Street Hotel, and it was just as cozy as the first time staying in Penang. The entire staff was welcoming and friendly, always smiling and eager to help. The location was right near all the popular sights and many restaurants and cafes, definitely a prime location. I ended up booking another night here at a later date when returning to Penang from Langkawi, and I'll stay here again for future visits.
George Town
The apartment has an amazing view of Penang island. It has a 65+ inch Sony TV with HDR contents to view using the internet provided by the property. The air conditioners kept the apartment in comfortable temperature for us. Apartments has more than enough beds for the number of adults I bought for. Host provided 2 car parks as requested. High security apartment. Great for couple or individual stay. Infinity pool provided great experience!
Location, room size, cleanliness. After feeling like in a prison cell in a hotel in Singapore, I came to this spacious hotel room in George Town. At least 10 times as large, half the price. I usually stay at a hotel in Chulia Street when I come to Penang, but my regular hotel was not available, so I booked this one nearby and was not dissapointed! I will probably stay at Attic Hotel when I come back next time!
George Town
The location is amazing as it's close to some of my favorite restaurants like Nasi Kandar Pokok Ketapang and Bee Hwa Cafe, and also a great walking distance to most attractions in Georgetown. The vibe of the hostel is really charming. The facilities are nice and kept clean, and sometimes they have cats to play with too! Would definitely recommend this place to any travelers coming to Georgetown, Penang.
The counter staff who went to check the room cheated, when it was time to check out, he checked the room and changed the towels, saying he took them from the room I stayed in and said they were dirty. have to pay an additional RM31.80. have to be careful while staying at this Rate E-Red Hotel Bayu Mutiara, Bukit Mertajam, Penang. **Be careful, they are very clever and easy to deceive customers
We were greeted by the warm Hospitality from the doorstep right to the reception. Staff was attentive and very polite. We were also impressed by the room and toilet facilities. The Hotel's location is so ideal and walking distance to the UNESCO sites, local souvenirs shops and delicious restaurants. Strongly recommended for those who are coming to Georgetown, Penang.
This was our favorite place we stayed in Malaysia. The location is fantastic, it’s a great value for the money, the rooms are incredible, and the breakfasts are super good. The staff were also very friendly and welcoming, and gave us great recommendations on how to spend our time. We will stay here the next time we are in Penang!
Batu Ferringhi
All top rated! If you want to have a relax just go there and have a village life. Penang’s national park is very near to the house if u ride the bike Tony provided and all are nature around. It also provide rambutan and many other fruits. Tony is very warmhearted. I will back there next year if I go to Malaysia again.
Batu Ferringhi
The hotel was wonderful. The suite was fantastic with great ocean view and the bath tub with the ocean view. food was fantastic.. the buffet breakfast was outstanding choice of all Malaysian cuisines including Chinese and Indian stalls, western and Penang favourites… the were games to keep the kids entertained.
George Town
Review for my extended stay. My second night, meet new friends and explore Penang together. We went for a hike in the national park in the morning, street art in the evening. Tried the street food nearby the hostel, it was delicious. Clean bed, clean sheets, clean room, clean bathroom. Smell fresh always.
George Town
A good hotel to stay in Penang for a quiet relaxing holiday. Just on the beach front and not far from Georgetown. Though the sea water was not clear, the beach was nice for sunbathing, walking and relaxing. Seaview rooms are great. You get a view of the sea all day and from your bed.
Batu Ferringhi
I sampai di hotel jam 1350pm.. Staff ambik details & deposit then terus bagi kunci untuk check in walaupun belum masa check in jadi xperlu tunggu lama. Facilities & food for breakfast also very good, I give 10⭐/ 10⭐. In future will come again. Tq Shangri La Hotel Penang❤
Bagan Jermal
Good location near Tesco and many other shops/restaurants, yet easy to drive to key attractions such as Batu Feringghi beach, Komtar and Penang Hill Apartment block looks new, not crowded when we were there. Fully equipped with iron, washing machine, dryer, detergent, towels.
Hotel with parking. The location is strategic. You can walk to Chowrasta Market and Roti Canai Jalan Transfer. Nearby famous nasi kandar restaurants. The staffs are friendly and will suggest to you some of the best foods in Penang. I will come back and stay here again.
The location was chosen for 1 night as close to the airport and we had an early morning flight. Beautiful balcony, lovely and clean and an amazing pool. The best pool on our Malaysia trip. The views were amazing. Visit the Penang War museum next door. Very interesting.
Location: Hotel is conveniently located in Penang and very near good cafés so you're always within reach for your caffeine fix. Room: Room is spacious and the bed is comfortable Design: Lighting in the room is a bit dark but overall, the hotel is well designed.
Batu Ferringhi
- Swimming pool. - Much better and cleaner than Bayview Hotel In Georgetown Penang which was too filthy. - Much suitable for leisure time of tourists. - The breakfast was much better and more diversified than Bayview Hotel In Georgetown Penang.
George Town
