We came for one weekend in the Festas do Mar.
We came for one weekend in the Festas do Mar. We had a great time. The festival was great, with our favorite Portuguese musicians, and we went to see the mercado, some art galleries and just wandered around town as well. Had a great time.Guest review bySaraPortugal - 8.0

Oeiras is a suburb of Lisbon, so not overwhelmed by tourists. We found some great places to eat that were appreciative of our custom. There was a fantastic vegan restaurant just outside the town centre (Alma Veg). The main problem for us was the ddual carriageway that passes right by the beaches.Guest review bySimonUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Estoril is ideal for singles, couples and families who want...
Estoril is ideal for singles, couples and families who want a relaxing break away. There are plenty of hotels, bars, cafes and restaurants but there isn’t a specific area or ‘strip’ of these, they are just dotted around. The casino and its garden are a dominant and attractive focal point so there are a few places near to it. There’s Portuguese food, of course, but also Italian, Chinese, Indian and Japanese. You can get fish and seafood dishes of any sort but there’s also lots of steak on offer. Prices are very reasonable. Some people travel in and out of the town specifically and solely to use the beach by day or the casino by night, some to attend events at the glamorous looking fort on the beach, so the town isn’t dead but it can feel quiet at certain times. It’s definitely a chilled out place to stay in. There are only a few local shops for groceries and not really any souvenir shops. In my opinion, it has more of a local, residential vibe and isn’t touristy. For a change of scene, by train Cascais is just a 5 minute ride away or Lisbon is about 40 minutes away. It’s great to visit either and then escape the crowds by returning to Estoril! There is currently a replacement bus service in operation after 9pm (not sure how easy that is to use) but at other times the trains are very frequent and inexpensive.Guest review byPaulaUnited Kingdom - 6.0

It's becoming too crowded, and it is no longer safe at night on the beach or the promenade. Prices have gone up a lot in restaurants and cafés, and most of the time, the quality of the food and service doesn't justify it. Another nice place lost to the excess of tourism.Guest review byBernardoPortugal - 8.0
Nice quite town.

We were staying near by the train station. quite a few shops and restaurants with great seafood selection, cafeteria, pharmacy around. chinese mini supermarket where you can buy anything you can imagine (non food), walk to the beach is about 7minGuest review bySviat_FNetherlands - 10.0

Paco de Arcos was a short 20 minute ride from the airport and just outside the city center. It is a quaint town, quiet and had great restaurants, lovely people and easy access to both train transit and beaches. You can walk all the way to Lisbon along the waterfront with many beaches and landmarks. We did a day trip to Cascais via the train and were completely at ease for our entire stay. Our best outing was a day trip to visit many of the Knight's Templar historical sites with a local guide who was a history buff and shared much of his knowledge with us.Guest review byDiannaCanada - 6.0

The area was full of Quality built property with lots of trees, there were a good choice of supermarkets, the beaches were good, plenty of resturants bars and cafes, there was a nice small park.I dont go out drinking and I did not have details of any alternative evening activities, except for the excellent 4 evenings of musical entertainment at cascais festival. I ate all my meals at save the world hostels as it was my plan to walk and sight see in the morning take a break at lunchtime and do the same in the afternoon and read my books as well.Pingo Doice supermarket you could get a cup of coffee and a custard tart in their cafe for 1 euro.At Aldi Supermarket you could buy a packet of Markus Bio ground coffee (exc) Spar Supermarket exc choices only 7 mins away.Guest review byPeter - 10.0

All best beaches in Lisbon Subarban are located in Oeiras region. If booked a hotel this region , all the prominent beaches like Carcevelos , Cascais are all reachable in short duration by the Moffusil train. Beach lovers can think staying in Oeiras region . Please note , I found public transport is not much effective or the frequency is very low , lot of time waiting for a bus , and finally have to depend on Taxis most time, that May shell out more expenseGuest review byKarthik IndIndia - 8.0
I wouldnt particularly recommend Estoril as a holiday...
I wouldnt particularly recommend Estoril as a holiday destination. It is a residential area full of expensive houses and flats and a couple of big hotels. There is no centre or focal point to the town. The only draw seems to be the casino. There are no shops apart from a supermarket and newsagent and an expensive dress shop. ALthough there are restaurants dotted around the residential streets they dont feel very holidayish. If you are just using Estoril as a base to tour around the area then it will be fine but I would recommend staying in Cascais if you want a holiday resort with a holiday vibe and all the facilities.Guest review bySuzanneUnited Kingdom
