Chicago
I found some of the tourist traps a little underwhelming, the bean and Navy Pier for example, however the positives far outweigh the negatives. Walk along the Lake to Soldier field, experience the river walk and the architecture boat tour, I chose 360 sky deck as the observation deck during the day. Also worth a trip to Wrigley Field.

Chicago
Amazing and very clean city! Wonderful people! I love Chicago! This is a beautiful American city. The architecture is modern and great. The people are kind, polite, and open. The University of Chicago is excellent. I highly recommend Chicago for architecture, culture, music, education, fun, and living. I recommend Chicago for the Harold Washington Library and for the Newberry Library.

Chicago
We loved Shedd Aquarium and the shopping place called Marshalls. All the other places were okay but not great. The Planitarium was a bit overrated.
The buses were better than metro in our opinion but it is subjective as the first metro ride was interesting.
We ate mostly in fast food restaurants because they were price appropriate. Other restaurants felt not up to the standards for the price.

I love Chicago - it's that good blend of New meets Old.
Chicago
I love Chicago - it's that good blend of New meets Old. Only a short 25 minutes drive from O'Hare International Airport puts you in amongst Gangster History, Good Food and on the whole Good People.
From the Arts to Sport, Music concerts to Fine Dining - Chicago has it all for you.
Transport around Chicago is readily available- the Red Double Decker Buses are a great way of seeing the great city with sop offs/pick ups from all the touristy places.
Catch a ball game at Wrigley Park, the 2nd oldest baseball stadium or a casual stroll along The Navy Pier.
Rock concerts go off in Tinley Park (we saw Alice Cooper n Judas Priest together in Oct 2025) or take a river cruise and take in the fabulous architecture that Chicago has to offer.
Make sure you check out "The Bean" at Millenium Park as you head North towards the Magnificent Mile. (Hotels, shops, eateries and restaurants).
Go see Sue the 99% complete T-Rex fossil at The Field Museum ... take a step on the edge ... on the Ledge on top of The Sears Building.
Foodies - You must go the Carsons Ribs and Steakhouse - the best feed and service EVER!!!! And Volaré is a great Italian restaurant too - the best gnocci and vodka sauce - just like nonna makes! And there's this Pizzaplace called Beggars Pizzeria on S Clinton - great service and good Chicago Pizza Pie.
If your into Blues style music, check out Blue Chicago on N Clarke - this club has the best vibe and showcases great local Talents like The Mark Wheeler Band and the sassy tones of Ms Shirley Johnson.
I travel 13,000km to the USA, and each time I always find myself in Chicago - there is always something to see and do

Chicago had never been on my travel list.
Chicago
Chicago had never been on my travel list. I was there because I was catching the California Zephyr from Chicago to San Francisco. I didn't have any real idea of what to expect but I very quickly fell in love with Chicago. I was only there for 3 days and I wish I could have stayed longer. There is so much to see. I definitely need a much warmer jacket for my next visit.
I stayed at L7 Chicago (Lotte 7). As a solo traveller, I felt very safe walking around. All of my sightseeing was on foot. Next time I will definitely explore the L aka Chicago Loop further but there wasn't time on this trip.
I did two walking tours but would like to have done a food walking tour as well. I loved the Chicago River Walk.

Chicago is an amazing city to enjoy.
Chicago
Chicago is an amazing city to enjoy. There is things to do for everybody and during the summer, there are endless activities, concerts, expos, you name it.
The city is clean and overall safe. It is easy to move around it and you have convenient access to anything you may want.
The weather in Chicago is really unpredictable, it can be raining and then sunny, and after that windy, so you need to come prepared for all weather.
The food in the city is really great. You cannot leave without trying a Deep Dish pizza or a Chicago style hot dog. there is plenty to choose still of those are not your options.
I do recommend avoid the touristic zones like Millenium Park or Navy Pier during weekends, especially in the afternoon, it gets full in a few hours.

Chicago
It is a very beautiful city, but be prepared for the weather — especially in winter — as it can vary greatly, from minus 10 to plus 10 degrees Celsius. Make sure to bring sunglasses, no matter whether it’s winter or summer.
