South Carolina

South Carolina is famed for Lowcountry charm and coastal scenery, with Charleston’s cobbled streets and moss‑draped oaks. It blends history, seafood, and beaches, ideal for families wanting sandy days and solo travelers seeking culinary treats, walks, and easy coastal escapes.

Top highlights are Charleston’s historic district and the Atlantic coast with barrier islands like Hilton Head and Myrtle Beach. Don’t miss a boat trip to Fort Sumter for history or a marsh kayak for dolphin sightings. Stay in Charleston, Myrtle Beach, and Columbia for heritage, family beaches, and central access.

The room was clean, spacious and the beds were comfortable. The staff were very professional, attentive and helpful during our stay. The resort was cleaned and smelled good. The game room was enjoyable as it gave my children more things to do while on vacation. The indoor and outdoor pools were clean and well maintained.

Charleston

Food sucks everywhere you go, $20+ plates and there isn't even salt? Who puts white gravy on shrimp and grits? We tried multiple dining locations and somehow every single one did not meet standard expectations with the exception of Kilwins. Locals drive like they’re stupid and scared. Towards the end of our stay I opted for Ubers/walking because I couldn't take it anymore. City mostly ignores the entirety of its tragic history. Charleston is one of the highest used ports in the country during slavery and how to they commemorate the location where it all happened? An easy to miss plaque next to some trashcans. City is greatly lacking diversity which might explains why the food is trash. Not a place I will ever consider returning unless Im forced to. Saw some cool birds though, International African American Museum and Gibbes Art Museum were the only enjoyable places.

So easy to find our way around. Great restaurants. Lots to do for all ages. We had a great day wine tasting and also took the fireworks dolphin cruise. Do be aware that most places close at 10 pm. If you're a late night person, choices are limited.

Columbia

While we have been to Columbia before to visit family we enjoyed the zoo, the Soda City Market is a walkable events on the weekends with local crafts, vendors, food, and drinks and it's a must in the summer. We also went to the South Carolina fair and enjoyed that as well. There's many things to do and see. Lots of history and culture as well. Highly recommend Railroad BBQ for great ribs, brisket, chicken, and pulled pork.

Greenville

Greenville is a cute walkable little town. The people there are friendly, there are a lot of shops to explore and really good restaurants. There is a park called Reedy Park that is great for riding a bike or just walking. When we were there the local theater had a Shakespeare performance every night in this park at no cost. We are already planning our next trip!

Florence

I have been visiting Florence on my way to New York for about 10 years. What strikes me is the community’s commitment to the town. It seems to me that the residents are proud of their city and are dedicated and determined to make sure the town experiences growth. The stores, hotels and restaurants are upscale, with new businesses moving in. The people are friendly and the population diverse. Florence is truly a great small city with lots to do…. from outdoor activities to great downtown restaurants to an active nightlife.

Beaufort

Beaufort is a wonderful town if you love historical, southern cities. The waterfront sidewalk and access to the swings is currently closed for restoration, but that didn’t dampen the spirits of the crowd at the music festival. We love the size of town and always feel safe walking downtown.

Rock Hill is a beautiful little city and an absolute gem just south of charlotte. Christmasville is an amazing Festival totally worth traveling for. The Town Square with a huge fountain reminds me of a Piazza in italy. Rock hill has so much to offer and so many little nooks to explore. Love Rock Hill

Clemson

Awesome experience, on game day or work day or get away day, or weekend away. 3/4 hour from major cities, college town feel with research and innovation all around with winding block or mortar back alley steps to find bookstore or ice cream or bike shop along canopies of old moss covered oaks. Right on top of Lake Hartwell and I believe a little glimpse of heaven when the sun shines just right.
