We started our Vietnam adventure in Hanoi for 3 nights and full days. We did a walking food tour in the old quarter, took the hop on hop off bus tour and explored. Visited the local markets, train alley and walked the lake people watching. Ate some pretty interesting food, frogs legs to sand worms. Was a good way to hit the ground in a not too busy part of Vietnam. The bus was a great way to see the outer areas and many touristy things to visit along the way. We stopped at a temple, be aware you hire the sarongs from the ladies out the front to cover your legs when entering. The jail was an interesting stop with loads of French invasion and terror. Reminds you how crap humans are to one another.Guest review byBree - 10.0

Was a transit stop for an early morning flight. It was fairly late in the even and we still found places that served good tasty food. The pods were easy to find. I would suggest booking beforehand rather than showing up and hoping there is space.Guest review byRichardUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Such a beautiful place to visit if you're staying in Hanoi!
Such a beautiful place to visit if you're staying in Hanoi! It’s the perfect slice of nature, just 1.5hours away from from the city. There's a stunning national park where you can have long hikes and many breathtaking, sacred temples—an experience truly worth having. The fresh air, peaceful atmosphere, and warm, welcoming people make it even more special. However, if you're craving Western food, it's hard to find any good restaurant, so be prepared to immerse yourself in Vietnamese food only.Guest review bySara BMorocco - 8.0

This area is a long way from the city centre but it was close to the language centre, students and teacher that I needed to visit. It was perfect for my stay, but a tourist wishing to explore Hanoi may want to stay closer to the city centre. There are many places to eat here, and the train station is a 15 minute walk.Guest review byOng Du DuAustralia - 10.0

I didn't stay at this hotel to tour the local town, but only for convenience near the Hanoi international airport, because I had an early morning flight and was concerned about unpredictability of traffic from farther away. I did extensive search to find a place close to airport but inexpensive price and still good quality. The Family Transit Hotel in Thach Loi satisfied everything I was looking for, and was so much more in quality and customer service by the staff there. Personalized shuttle service from hotel staff got me to international departures drop off within about 10 minutes of when I came down to front desk to check out.Guest review bySamuelUnited States - 8.0

I think Train Street is the must-visit spot, and I was here just for that. If you love street food, roaming in city areas, shopping, and souvenirs, and wish to stick to the city, then Hanoi is just a good option. The good part of people here is that they are attentive but not so friendly (particularly, I found them reluctant to speak and befriend tourists, and I am sure that was not due to just the language barrier; hardly anyone would speak English, and the rest of them just don't want to communicate with you if you don't speak Vietnamese or buy something from them). Before coming here, I'd visited Ho Chi Minh City, and I just love that city, and people were extremely polite and friendly. The food they served in Ho Chi Minh was excellent, while in Hanoi is just like 'eat and leave now' kind of place. I really don't want to criticise or want to insult anyone, but I am just sharing my comparative analysis of two different cities. Further, due to a typhoon that entered Hanoi three days after I arrived in Hanoi, I had to travel to another beautiful place, Sapa, and that was one of my best experiences as a solo traveller. The food, people, environment, and facilities – everything in Sapa was just perfect there. So I would recommend anyone visiting Vietnam spend fewer days in Hanoi (which is a bit costly and not so tourist friendly) and go to either the north, i.e., Sapa, or the south, i.e., Ho Chi Minh City or any other city (if you have more time) and spend at least 10 to 15 days exploring beautiful Vietnamese landscapes and culture. I just love Vietnam, and I would love to visit it again and again.Guest review byVishalIndia - 10.0
This is one of the best homestays I have had in Vietnam.
This is one of the best homestays I have had in Vietnam. It was so restful and quiet. I had ridden my motorcycle for 250 km's in pouring rain that day, when I arrived they offered to take my rain soaked clothes and dry them so I could be warm when leaving the next morning, then fed me so I could go rest the evening away. They took fabulous care of me after a very trying trip. Thank you Bavi Homestay, much appreciated.Guest review byTZONOQUACanada - 10.0

Hanoi is an interesting place to visit....to see how the locals live and keep the business going where they stay also. Especially the The Old Quarter area is a hustle and bustle and very interesting. Eat they local food and chill on the pavement and sit on the small chairs.Guest review bygerrit
