We had an unforgettable stay at Pezula Retreat in Knysna! The villa was absolutely amazing — spacious, beautifully designed, and fully equipped for a luxurious and relaxing stay. The facilities are world-class, making it not only a retreat in itself but also an ideal hub for exploring the Garden Route. The spa services were exceptional. I had the Ritual Chamber, SOS CBT massage, and the Probiotics Facial — each treatment was delivered with such care and professionalism, leaving me completely rejuvenated. Truly a five-star wellness experience. What made our stay even more special was the outstanding service. A very strong compliment to Lucciano, the porter, whose warmth, constant helpfulness and friendly attitude, professionalism, and genuine care stood out. If you’re visiting the Garden Route, Pezula Retreat is an absolute must — a perfect blend of luxury, relaxation, and exceptional service.

From the moment I discovered Tsala Treetop Lodge nestled within the lush Garden Route, I knew it was special. Elevated walkways, stone architecture, and African-inspired design conjure a harmonious retreat that feels both secluded and indulgent. Atmosphere & Setting Surrounded by dense forests and just a short drive from Plettenberg Bay, Tsala offers the perfect balance of tranquility and adventure. The indigenous flora, ambient lighting, and woven wood-and-stone design blend seamlessly into the forest—creating an immersive, almost magical atmosphere.

    It was breathtakingly beautiful.

It was breathtakingly beautiful. Great restaurants & we loved being so close to the water & all the activities. We loved the featherbed boat trip We ate at Drydock & 34 degrees within walking distance from our accommodation. We went walking in the forest about 6 kms away. Knysna has everything. Spectacular views, beautiful beaches. Great restaurants and lovely forest trails.

A beautiful region, with excellent restaurants.

A beautiful region, with excellent restaurants. The Grootrivier and (Western Cape part of) the Bloukrans River passes are exceptional, as is Nature's Valley. The Birds of Eden is THE world leading bird conservancy -- the biggest anywhere with free flying birds in a magnificent forest with a beautiful kloof, waterfall ,,, The nearby Monkeyland and Jukani conservancies are also probably the best in Africa. Thyme & Again restaurant is also a favourite.

Many establishments in the surrounding area do not allow dogs. So you can't eat in many places as no arrangements were made to accomodate dog owners. Some beaches banned dogs completely, even on a leash. I found this attitude very short sighted and unpleasant.

    Natures Valley is very special.

Natures Valley is very special. Most other bays in the area are over developed and commercialised. Natures Valley still captures the time when going to the beach was not all about how magnificent your property was. Lets hope it stays that way.

We really enjoyed our time in Knysna, we had several activities planned and these were all fantastic. The restaurants in the tare great, there are loads of options. The town itself is quite busy and buzzing, if you are looking for a quiet relaxing holiday this might not be the best option.

Plettenberg Bay is a fantastic town.

Plettenberg Bay is a fantastic town. It can get very busy in season but an absolute pleasure out of season. Beaches are exquisite and there are plenty of activities in and around for couples and families. Must recommend the Waffling Whale at Formosa - food is delicious and the staff are amazing. If you want brilliant coffee you need to visit the Sotto's Deli!

The number of bergies or street people hanging at the SPAR and surrounding area for the size of town was disconcerting. Nearly had an incident regarding the snatch of a cell phone. Wonderful little town with good restaurants and upkeep of paths and benches wonderful to see. Clear marking of dog friendly beaches helpful.
