Learn the bus system to get around the center!

Learn the bus system to get around the center! During peak season, the streets are crowded to be prepared for that. When going to a museum etc., purchase the audio tour because they are really helpful, you can go at your own pace and are less expensive than a 'tour'. Order tickets a day early, online, it is not difficult to do. Then you won't have to wait in long lines. Bring a hat, and water during the spring/summer months. You may want to consider an umbrella.

Honestly the best thing about our stay was Hotel Vilòn.

Honestly the best thing about our stay was Hotel Vilòn. It's in an ideal location close to the Spanish Steps and the river, hundreds of elegant shops, and restaurants and the staff could not be more professional and kind. We were there for our 20th anniversary so there was a bottle of chilled Champagne and a gorgeous selection of chocolate and fruit delicacies waiting for us in our room when we checked in. The ambience in the lobby, the restaurant and bar is totally unique and charming. Incredible art works decorate the entire hotel adding character and luxurious comfort. The bed and linens and in-room amenities were delightful as well. I truly can't wait to go back.

Rome is a great city to go sightseeing.

Rome is a great city to go sightseeing. We found 3 hours in the Colosseum area to be too much and preferred our Golf Cart trip to the Appian Way. We had done the Vatican before so we avoided it as we heard the crowds were awful. Trastevere is a great neighborhood from which to base. Best tip we got was to visit the Testaccio Market for shopping and lunch.

I thought I could see everything staying 4 nights.

I thought I could see everything staying 4 nights. Turned out we could have stayed a week in order to see it all. But 4 nights allowed seeing Colosseum, Palatine Hill and Vatican City, the Sistine Chapel. Returned to Rome for one more day to fly home the following day and got to see The Pantheon (which is a must) and Trevi Fountain. The longer you stay the deeper you can dive into history and and visiting other historic sites. Save your feet if staying 20-30 minutes walking by taking a taxi to the Colosseum. Taxi rides are cheap. The. You can walk everywhere till you’re exhausted and taxi back to your room. I suggest not staying too close to the ruins or for example, the Trevi Fountain. The crowds are non-stop and loud. The restaurants are packed and since it’s a tourist neighborhood you will pay more. I stayed just beyond the touristy zone and had great food and wonderful restaurants. I believe I made the best choice in this when planning my trip. Note you can walk the 15-30 minutes. I have physical limitations and saved my walking for the historical sites which had lots of stairs. But I could have walked. My trip through Italy was 3 weeks so I planned to spend my energy for the sites I wished to see.

The location was great! We loved that we felt like locals while staying here. The room looks exactly like the pictures. Romantica Guest House was one of the best accommodations we had during our stay in Italy. Would definitely stay here again if I ever return to Rome. The check in process was also flexible. Our flight landed at 8 pm. We were able to stay in contact with the host and he met us at the Guest House right as the taxi was dropping us off. There was a small fee for late check in but it was very reasonable.

It was a perfect stay at the middle of the historical city of Rome located within 1 km from Colosseum and just over a km from Roma Termini station. Very clean and comfortable room with a balcony and plenty of air and lights. The AC really can cool down the room unlike most of the hotels of Italy. Both room and toilet looked very well maintained. Bonus point was the nice and helpful behavior of the host. She went beyond our expectations with her helpfulness. Highly recommended.

The location is WOW. right at the center of all things, but in a quite ally and above the best coffe in Italy and one of the best ice creams, and some really good Italian restaurants... good for your trip, bad for your diet. The room and the bed were really great and comfy, and with a great shower which is important to us. The staff was super helpful with everything, Dennis was really great. Our "go to" hotel in Rome from now on. Can't wait to come back :)

Amazing place!! Me and my mum really enjoyed out stay. The place has such a unique atmosphere. The host so helpful and nice. Our check in time was out of the house rules, but host allowed us to check in later. Moreover, our train got late and host still waited us for several hours. We just cannot be more thankful. It really made our trip to Rome special. Thank you! Also, we got recommendation on the restaurant nearby and it was our best meal in Italy.

The staff is amazing! They certainly go above and beyond to make you feel at home and are very friendly. The hotel was nice but the staff certainly are the shining star of our stay. The second highest would also be very comfortable beds and super plush pillows which are HARD (pun intended) to find in Italy. In the month we spent in Italy most locations had firm pillows and mattresses, but this hotel was happily way more comfortable for us!

This was the best place we stayed in Italy. Nice and new, modern and contemporary. Felt extremely clean, comfortable beds and we were lucky enough to have a view of Piazza Venezia from our room. Great location, we walked everywhere and didn’t have to use public transport once. Plus the breakfast! Pietro really went the extra mile to make breakfast each morning that bit special. I recommend this UNA property 100%. The entire hotel was so clean (big lobby and room), staff was efficient and friendly, room was spacious, and breakfast was great. Great location and value. Only 5min walk from Rome Termini station and 10-15 min walk to Colosseum and Trevi. I stayed in an UNA in Catania and when I wasn’t sure where to stay in Italy, I chose this UNA. From now on, I will start by finding an UNA hotel.

This was our second stay at Hotel Trastevere within a 10-day period. (We started and ended our trip to Italy in Rome, with visits elsewhere in the middle.) Once again, we greatly enjoyed the location, the friendly and helpful staff, and the daily breakfast. Although it probably doesn't have all the amenities that some larger or more expensive hotels do, it had almost a family atmosphere, and we felt very much at home.

The room was nice and clean. Alessia communicated well and gave good instructions for check in. She also cleaned up the room everyday which was appreciated. Breakfast was coffee and a pastry which is to be expected in Italy. Only a 12 minute walk to Rome Termini and 20 to 30 to any major attractions. Neighborhood looks a little rough but we never had any issue. Good value for the price.

Friendly and helpful reception staff. Surprising fluffy and tasty croissants (for Italy) during breakfast. The location was very good, just across the US embassy and many 5* hotels - fairly easy to reach, away from the tourist noise but still reasonable distance to all key areas in Rome. Much appreciated that they could book us a hire car to take us to the airport.

BEST hotel I stayed in while in Rome! Considering I stayed in more than 10 this is impressive. Incredibly kind staff. AC actually works even when it is 37 C or upper 90sF. Any other hotel in italy that had a central AC it didn't work. Bed is incredibly comfortable memory foam. Rooms are large and have access to a beautiful rooftop patio.

Friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast was great. Lovely little rustic hotel, quinticential Italy. The location was great. Close to train and amenities. Within walking distance to most of the sites of Rome. Lots of small cafes to eat close by.

The building was beautiful and the location was absolutely perfect. We were able to walk all around Rome from our hotel. All staff was extremely friendly and helpful. It was the perfect place to stay for our first trip to Italy.

Great location close to train station and easy to get to centre of Rome. Nice and clean room with accomodating host. Breakfast was a cappuccino and crossiant from cafe downstairs, cappuccino was one of the best we had in Italy!
