So many things to see and do!
So many things to see and do! Love the Hop on Hop of Red Bus, great way to get an overview. Don’t pass up a visit to the Vatican Museum, so many treasures there! While Rome is a great part of Italy to see for all the history there, everyplace in Italy is wonderful. Don’t miss any of it! Levanto is especially lovely by the Cinque Terre, Montapulciano is captivating, Florence and Venice should not be missed either! You might have to make several trips! My next spot is the Dolomites and Lake Cuomo.

Rome, the Eternal City, had something for everyone in our 3 generation family. Museums, ruins, great dining, places of interest, shopping, markets, and more. I did a lot of research beforehand about transportation, advance tickets, good guides, avoiding lines and it all paid off. Do your homework before you go. Lots of FB sites have a wealth of info.

Not a safe place and overcrowded. I was stopped by someone who claimed to be a police, I couldn’t verify but he has a gun in his hip and a badge) who asked to see my ID and my money! He wanted to see my money! I obliged. A guy asked me to take his picture with his hotel behind him and I did then that police came seconds later. After the police sniffed all my money and examined my ID, he told me that are is full of Cocaine dealings and he only did his job to keep us ‘safe’ so I told him I didn’t feel safe from him to which he apologised and let me go. All major attractions were full. Advice: visit major attractions early morning.

Rome is a wonderful place to visit but some places may be crowded. I suggest traveling off season, in winter, to beat the crowds (still can be full of people but not over-crowded). Go for an early stroll (5am) to visit very crowded spaces like Piazza de Spagna and Fontana di Trevi. This way you can fully appreciate the beauty of these places. We did not like the visit to the Vatican. The museum has definitely a most spectacular collection, but it is over-crowded and not very organized. We wanted to leave but had to keep going with the crowd to the exit passing through places we had already visited. There were no alternative exits. Colosseum and Roman Forum, although crowded are a must. This is where one gets an idea of how massive and impressive the Roman Empire must have been. And what great engineers they were. Take a guided tour to help put things into perspective. Rome is very walkable. If you need, buses are easy and effective and can be paid by credit card in a machine inside the bus, just tap and go. Food is always good, stay away from the most touristic areas with long menus and many options in English. These are pricey and do not offer the best food. Do sit somewhere beautiful for happy hour (aperitivo) and people watching. The city is lively and breathtaking.

The architecture, statues, and history are breathtaking. Incredible views at every turn. Piazza Novona was our favorite piazza because of the beauty and liveliness in the evening. Absolutely recommend early mornings and late evenings to get the best experience. Strolling the historic center late at night while the town is illuminated in a yellow glow is magical. Fantastic destination. Bucket list destination - glad we went. Be careful when travelling through the high/peak season. The crowds can be quite daunting. Make sure you are in a well located accommodation and have a plan in terms of the sights you would like to see. If you want to see very popular sights, like Trevi fountain, go early - the crowds get denser the later you go to the fountain. Don't be too rigid about your schedule either, be easy. Be careful of pickpockets, make sure your bag is pickpocket safe.Samantha

Very convenient (10 minute walk) from Roma Termini, which was great for us since we arrived by train from Napoli and left via the Leonardo Express to FCO. Very comfortable hotel in the rail station area—which typically can be a little "hit or miss".

It is quite simply one of the nicest places I have ever stayed at. The location is nothing short of spectacular; the staff and owners very kind and helpful; the rooms full of character and history as well as being spotlessly clean; the rooftop terrace has breathtaking views of ancient Rome. When I come to Rome, I always stay at Residenza Maritti. It is a wonderful place to enjoy the Eternal City from.

From the moment I arrived the nice lady at reception made sure to answer my questions, and even gave me recommendations on where to go in Rome (with a map). The suite itself was gorgeous and the location is beautiful. There are plenty of shops, cafes, and restaurants close to the hotel. I plan to visit Rome again next year and I will definitely consider booking here again. :)

The staff is so wonderful, friendly and speaks English fluently (after two weeks in Italy this was so welcoming!!). The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. The area is nice, safe and in close proximity of the historical landmarks. Because it’s a business area (lots of bureaucrats) there are many good places for breakfast and lunch nearby.
