This was a February trip so the weather was often wet but there are plenty of other things to do besides walking. One minor disadvantage is the lack of a bus service in the village (we were using public transport), but trains are generally reliable from the local station and other places accessible from Hope or Hathersage. Visitor Centre was closed during February half-term - a shame as it could have been useful. Great atmosphere in this village, by day and by night. Wonderful walking

Poor Wi-Fi connection.
Poor Wi-Fi connection. When I stayed in different accommodation previously I experienced the same issue. A lovely cafe next to the train station. If it wasn’t for the length of stay I would have explored other places to eat outside Edale. Be aware that poor signal may affect your ability to park in some car parks in the area. I would advise bringing plenty of change with you.

The surrounding views are incredible and make any length of stay in Edale feel too short.
Both pubs in the village are cozy and sell great food and beer, staff are friendly and service is great.
The general shop in the village is lovely and have everything a walker or camper needs.
Amazing walks in the peaks to be had from both ends of the village.

Edale is picturesque and perfectly located for hiking Kinder Scout and Mams Tor from the doorstep. I didn’t need to drive all weekend.
No shop in village and no phone signal for miles. A couple of campsites in the village and parking £5.00 a day

So much to do around Edale, particularly if you are into walking. A map is essential, but try one of the path up to the plateau of Kinder Scout. There are many easier paths in the area too. Try a walk across Hollings Cross to the village of Castleton, where there are several small shops and cafes for a rainy day. Peverel Castle is worth a visit too, but the highlight of Derbyshire has to be Chatsworth House and its grounds. About a 30 minutes drive from Edale, it is well worth a visit, as there is enough to keep a family going for a whole day.

Loved Edale, in the centre of the Peak District.
Loved Edale, in the centre of the Peak District. Great for hiking, seeing some stunning views and exploring. Would recommend for anyone wanting to get away from hectic lifestyle. Feel like I've had a really relaxing holiday.
Lovely character cottage. Well maintained. Excellent kitchen facilities and utilities. The beds and bedding ( snuggly down & feather duvet) were ever so comfortable. Everything was very clean and there was a lot of attention to detail. The hosts have definitely their guests' comfort in mind. We loved the location for hiking and trips to the village (2 pubs, a cafe and a small shop). Beautiful views all around the cottage.
We would definitely like to return,
Beautiful right in the heart of The Peak District at the start of The Pennine Way. Great walks all around direct from the holiday cottage. The pub staff were super helpful and when the pub was busy they'd bring food direct to the cottage. Great food & drink available in the pub and breakfasts too at weekends, or you can entirely self cater, the choice is all yours.
I love visiting The Old Stable because of its perfect location. Once you park up, you really don’t need to drive off again until check-out. It is situated in a spot close to all the best walks — Jacob’s Ladder to Kinder Scout, Edale Village, Mam Tor, and more. It is always immaculate and organised. There is everything you need there.
Everything, cant fault a single thing. The location is superb, walk / 5 min drive to the nearest pub (very good) 10 min drive to great locations ( Mam Tor etc). Hosts are a lovely family, live nearby, always ready to help and assist. The cottage is cosy but spacious, pleasantly refurbished with loving hands.
Lovely accommodation in a stunning and quiet location. Very well equipped for staying in or just a short walk (<15 minutes) to two pubs in Edale. Kinder Scout and Mam Tor are in the doorstep for walkers and Castleton is a couple of miles away for Caverns.
Edale is a beautiful place .
And the winery is superb perfect location for walking in the area. free parking is bonus..appartment is all you need for a holiday fully fitted kitchen to high standard.bed really comfortable.. would certainly go again.
The location was awesome. Great if you want to hike in the area but want to be away from some of the crowded areas of the Peak District. Loved that I could walk out of the door and be on a trail in a couple of minutes.
We have visited Edale several times during different times of the year and this year we decided to stay over. There are some great walks featuring stunning landscapes and the village itself feels friendly and cosy.
Great Location in Edale, part of a working farm but we had our own parking. No issues with the house, well equipped, Owner lives near by and popped over to chat. Very nice.
the staff were incredibly friendly and the location is absolutely amazing!
apartment was warm and clean and had an excellent night sleep.
the pub is amazing! we loved it!
Glorious setting, beautiful building, really helpful friendly staff and manager. Great breakfast, great place totally recommend for a stay in the Peak District.
