If you're going skiing, Saariselkä is a good option and you can stay there for a week, for example.
If you are looking for the Northern Lights, maybe 3 nights would be ok, but you you should pray for good weather, with clear skies, and , of course, for the aurora to appear.

Saariselka has everything you need for a winter lapland trip...
Saariselka has everything you need for a winter lapland trip! The ski resort is at walking distance, there are more than three DMC's to chose from when booking trips, there are plenty of restaurants and pubs. THe supermarket is big for a small town and offers all you need. Note that you can't buy wine in the supermarket but there's a small store next to it called Alko where you can pick up a bottle of wine.

It is a very beautiful place, but it is expensive. I just stayed for one night in a beautiful cabin. I think that the food is ok and also there could be some more interesting things to in the Hotel do when it gets dark.

You can do many activities - skiing, biking, hiking, relaxing, observing, and enjoying Lapland nature. You have a big chance to see the Aurora Borealis. There is a very comfortable and understandable system of day huts and wilderness huts with essential equipment in and out of the national park — an excellent place for people who love nature.
Our stay here was everything we could’ve wanted and more! The hotel is very nice and had everything we needed, including activities like snowmobiling. the location is prime - it’s close enough to the village and in a good spot to potentially see the northern lights. The staff was exceptional, as was the breakfast! The Aurora cabin itself was beautiful and exactly what we were looking for! The snowy landscape was breathtaking of course, and the design of the whole hotel compliments it well.
This is a beautiful property, just outside the centre of Saariselka. Upon arrival we found it had everything we could possibly need and more! It was warm, cosy, clean and absolutely perfect for our stay. The sauna was amazing to relax in after being out in the snow all day and the addition of a Christmas tree was a much welcomed bonus! Surrounded by stunning scenery and just a 10 minute walk into town and to the shops etc. We loved everything about it and would 100% stay again!
A beautiful apartment in a great location in Saariselkä, within easy walking distance of the supermarket and restaurants. Although we arrived around 11pm at night, check-in instructions were easy to follow and we found the property without any problems. Inside it was warm, comfortable and more spacious than we had expected. Wi-Fi was super fast and the kitchen was well-equipped for self catering. We saw the northern lights while taking out the rubbish on our final evening!
Good Hotel but Disapointed about the cruelty they do with the dogs in the Hotel to offer a hushky experience, dogs are not Hushky therefore dogs suffer the coldnest and due to the dogs behaivor it is clear they are not well treated. Dogs work a lot. Hushkish are the right breed to support the weather and pulling the sled, bit they have other kind of dogs and it is evident the dos are suffering. Very slim and poor hair.
Simply put, we had an amazing time during our stay. Nina, Pasi and the rest of the team at Aurora Queen Resort really make you feel like home and will tailor your stay with activities in order to enjoy the amazing lapland nature. The rooms are superbly decorated and functional giving you first row seat on magnificent views.
We will definitely return for more mesmerizing moments!

It is a small and cody hut a little bit outside of Saariselkä, so you definitely need a car :) We really enjoyed our time there - we stayed one week and we spent a lot of time (almost every afternoon) in the hut relaxing, playing games, reading, cooking,..
It is really warm inside and the nicest thing is also the Sauna :)
It's a cosy place in the middle of nowhere, less light pollution but still very close to Saariselka (4km). Everything was clean even though we shared the kitchen and bathroom.
Comfortable bed, big rooms and a very nice living room. There is even a sauna to use.
Extremely helpful and polite staff
Wonderful and unique location good to spot northern lights
Really nice and cozy common spaces to relax
The hotel organizes lots of activities to fully enjoy the lapland experience.
The hotel is at a good location and it is easy to find. The rooms are comfy and excellent beds, clean bathroom - also bathrobes available. Stable wifi. Friendly staff at the reception. No extra fee for parking.
The location was really nice, but I have to put a lot of effort into getting breakfast in the morning since it is far away about 4km away from the hotel, but overall, the hotel was quite amazing!
breakfast and dinner included (simple selection). you can see reindeers on the property. funny experience sleeping in an glas igloo (but too expensive compared to other resorts in Finland)
The owners were very helpful and also the location was amazing, very close to the centre of Saariselka by car! We just loved the small street where the accommodation is!
1. Spacious clean cozy home
2. Well equipped kitchen
3. Good location not too far from the saariselka city
4. Great host
5. Dryer for clothes was very useful
Jacuzzi with 40 degrees water when its -20 outside , while watching sunset over the snow-covered fields of Saariselka is something You will never forget ;)
The Kelo Igloo was exquisite. we like the fact that it has an alarm when the northern lights are showing. No need to go out of the room and wait all night.
