The city’s most recognizable landmark is the Hotel del Coronado, a wooden Victorian beach resort, now a National Historic Landmark. Also great for shopping are Horton Plaza and the boutiques in the beachfront neighborhoods.
The city’s most famous attraction is its zoo in Balboa Park, a few blocks from San Diego International Airport. One of the world’s largest zoos, it is well worth a visit, as is the fantastic SeaWorld, home to several killer whales. If you're a smoker you may as well stay away from San Diego, the beaches were crowded and not a lot of places to sit. Everything is expensive. A few good points were there were a lot of restaurants, there was I believe a couple of amusement parks but we didn't attend those. Mission Bay has a lot of really cool seashells if you love to hunt for seashells

Very friendly city, with lots of very good facilities.
Very friendly city, with lots of very good facilities.
But things quite expensive.
As with a lot of places visited worldwide, travellers arriving at airport get ripped off by taxi drivers taking them from airport to hotel.
Rates ought to be clearly displayed so travellers can then make their choice.

The city appears clean, uncluttered, with lots of green space, beautiful flowering shrubs, flowers, palm trees, and beaches. We've visited before; this time we were in town for graduation at Point Loma Nazarene University, and enjoyed our stay. Balboa Park is amazing, and we attended an organ concert there last time.
The hotel is great for a long weekend trip as everything is at your disposal. The location was excellent, right on the beach. The hotel has a rental service of bikes, boogie boards, etc which makes it so convenient. Great restaurants all within walking distance, we even walked to Belmont Park which was a fun!
The hot tub was great too, as many evening it was cool, and having that was a nice way to relax.
The hotel remodel is modern, hip. The lobby is great to hang out and play boardgames, etc.
It was our third trip to San Diego and our stay at Humphreys Half Moon Inn is by far the best yet. We have previously stayed at Mission Beach and in the Hotel Circle. Humphreys Half Moon Inn on Shelter Island is a great location and not as hectic as other areas. It's an ideal tropical location!
The tropical theme of the resort is great compared to other generic hotels in the area. The entire hotel staff was friendly and helpful.
The hotel is in an excellent location for access to the city and beyond.
There are excellent travel options at the nearby Old Town Transit Centre (Bus, Tram and Train).
There is a free bus (San Diego Flyer) from the Airport to The Transit Centre and from there it's a short walk to the hotel.
The room was large, clean and comfortable. The bed was exceptionally comfortable.
Breakfast was in the continental style and was nice.
The property was centrally located in the heart of downtown San Diego. There are sooo many things within walking distance and it’s less than 1 mile to the airport. The facility is always spotless. The rooms are spacious and the breakfast is of good quality. I also loved the valet service offered at the hotel, it took a lot of the anxiety out of trying to figure out where to park.
Conveniently located next to a marina and overlooking the bay. The hotel operate a courtesy bus into the town of Coronado just 3 miles away. From Coronado you can take the passenger ferry across the bay to downtown San Diego or by car take the bridge. Coronado itself is a great place to browse and have a relaxing lunch or drink overlooking the beach/ocean and people watch.
Very well valued quality of stay for anyone who is visiting San Diego and wants to stay in Downtown. The hotel is located at the edge of downtown core so it is very easy walk around the city centre. Hotel offers on site parking garage that they share in Holiday Inn (instructions of garage use are a bit confusing for non English speakers). Rooms are very spacious and clean!
Great value hotel, good sized room with comfy bed. The Pacific ocean was right at the end of the road which was lovely, went swimming every day and strolling on the beach. Pacific Beach is a good neighbourhood with lots of bars and restaurants and not too bad a drive into San Diego itself. Easy drive up to La Jolla to see the seals and sealions (and the rich folk!)
This is the second time staying here due to the proximity to Petco Park (the sky bridge is the best!) and to the Gaslamp Quarter. It’s the best place. Friendly, clean and comfortable. Spent time at the pool and it was clean and the atmosphere was great. I had a massage there and it was exceptional. This is now my go to hotel when going to San Diego. Thank you!!
This is a well restored older hotel within walking distance to Old Town where there is practicially no parking anywhere. It is main road accesable to Mission Bay, Downtown, the airport for half the price of hotels just as nice. Good breakfast. Rooms are large with 2 sinks, one in bathroom and one out for families. Excellent value for visitors to San Diego.
We like the location when we don't want to stay inside San Diego. Loyal price, THERE IS YOUTUBE (I don’t know why, but few hotels take into account that guests may not know English (like my husband) and may want to watch YouTube in their language.
We really like the Lady at the reception, her name is Linda and she is very nice!
The room was spotless clean and very big. The bed was very comfortable.
The hotel, from the outside, looks a little outdated but the room was really nice and had everything I needed. I will definitively stay here again.
Downtown San Diego is just 10 min away.
Great option whenever you visit beautiful San Diego.
the rooms were very clean and spacious, the fact that the hotel had its's own parking was part of the reason I selected this hotel. Location wise it was fairly good, I liked that I was maximum 10-15 minutes away from the places I wanted to visit like La Jolla, Balboa Park, Downtown San Diego.
Location in point Loma was a great base for exploring San Diego. The hotel is basic but spacious and ideal for a good few days. Breakfast is an added bonus and the staff were soo sooo friendly and helpful!
convenient to old town. Loads of restaurants close by. we didn’t eat in hotel ! pool and jacuzzi which we didn’t use either ! location. close to train and bus stops! would use again if back in San Diego
The staff was super friendly, the room was spacious, the breakfast was great, location is good. The bed was super comfy. I would probably visit this hotel again when i would go back to San Diego.
The Horton Gran Hotel was located in a perfect location close to many San Diego attractions. It is within walking distance of the convention center and many restaurants in the Gaslamp District.
Amazing location, you can walk to so many attractions in downtown San Diego. Beautiful, modern hotel with great amenities and restaurants/bars in the hotel. Would definitely stay here again
