High quality apartment, beds great etc. Problem was getting there was a hassel of the off road time with very difficult roads. Too expensive given that. And it was a construction site, per the picture out of our window.

We stayed in Kirkjubaerjarklaustur and made day trips to the glacier and to black beach. If you have a car, it is a great place. The scenery is beautiful and it is a good location to explore the south eastern part of the island. Cute small town with a pretty waterfall at the top of the hill. A couple of restaurants and a small market were easily available. The hotel we stayed at was outside of the town itself but was an easy drive away. Great location, especially if you are in Iceland only for couple of days, this would be one of the best choices. From this location, you can make several amazing trips to the surrounding locations. The most interesting places offered by southern Iceland are reacheble from this area as a "base camp".

Every single facet of my stay was superb, from the warm welcome, right thru to my departure. Loved this place 10/10. So glad I booked dinner. Can't recommend the lamb chops with roast potato highly enough. Friendly helpful staff. Clean comfortable bedroom and bathroom. Wish I could have stayed much longer.
