Annecy is very beautiful - but a lot of people know that!
Annecy is very beautiful - but a lot of people know that! So it was immensely busy around the area where our hotel was, which is where the town meets the lake. I would not go again in high season. In my top 5 destinations to visit. Annecy old town is full of history, incredible buildings and so many great restauarants and bars to visit and not too expensive. Amazing scenery around the lake and mountains. Great for those who like the outdoors, lots of cycling, walking and hiking. There is a dedicated cycle route around the the outside of the lake around 50km which is amazing and a must do and you don't have to be a 'cyclist' to do it.Guest review byAnonymousUnited Kingdom - 10.0
The old town of Annecy was lovely.
The old town of Annecy was lovely. Lots of restaurants and shops in a medieval setting. I would give the Palais de l'Ile a pass. Most of the info is in French which I am not fluent in and the English translation is minimal. The Musee-Chateau d'Annecy had a little more English translation of the displays. I asked a question of one of the museum workers and received an informative response so don't be shy to ask! We rented bikes and rode around the lake. We went a little too far before realizing we had missed a turn at Doussard; it took us almost 4 hours to complete the entire route.Guest review byCarolineCanada - 10.0

This beautiful lakeside town features an ancient section built up along canals featuring dozens of shops and restaurants. It is situated at the foot of the Alps and makes a great base for cycling around the lake or into the mountains and the alpine pass roads frequently featured in the Tour de France. A bustling maze of cobbled alleyways and canal bridges populated with bistros, restaurants and bars at every turn with street performers and live bands. Hire a bike to cycle a marathon around Lake Annecy or an electric boat and sail down the middle of it. I look forward to returning again. We used Hebe's electric bicycles to reach Lake Annecy in 5 minutes. Breakfast was delicious. Wifi is speedy. Parking is 1 minute away and even subsidised. Hebe really is the perfect boutique hotel. When you don't need a spa or conference facilities. Just a warm welcome, stylish interior design, a comfy bed and everything on your doorstep...
