This was our second 2 night stay and we will be back! The front desk staff were wonderful - so helpful and professional. The housekeeping staff were also great - always accommodating and cheerful with a warm greeting. The bed was comfortable. The room was very clean and well-appointed. The shower room was spacious and bathroom had a large counter for all our toiletries. The lobby was tastefully decorated and serene. Delicious coffee was available in the morning in the lobby.

It’s a small city, yet popular with tourists thanks to its blend of natural beauty and cultural heritage. While some spots can get quite crowded, those who enjoy hiking can escape the crowds by booking a local guide and exploring the mountain trails. These paths lead to hidden shrines and temples, offering not only a peaceful atmosphere but also stunning views.

One week was the perfect way to enjoy the town and explore temples and shrines...and cute cafes! We recommend taking a walking tour to get a feel for the town and learn temple etiquette, etc.. In addition, we tried a few experiences - kintsugi golden joinery, woodcarving, and indigo dyeing. It was wonderful to meet the artisans and work with them (even though we are not terribly artistic!). Kamakura never fails when it comes to food - especially Japanese and Italian restaurants, and gelato!

The Hase-dera Shrine and the Great Buddha are awe-inspiring and accessing them by local train is easy. By far the most beautiful shrine we have seen in our travels. Some fabulous restaurants and a great breakfast spot near the beach. Enoshima Island is also worth a visit.

I liked it all! Delightful from start to finish. I wanted a calm, manageable place to handle my jet lag and enjoy. I was not open or ready for Tokyo just yet. Kamakura filled the bill perfectly. My favorite part was Enoshima early in the morning before crowds decended. AND GOING to an absolutely, delightful old world Japanese sento bath in the neighborhood. It was strongly recommended by my host Jiro.

Kamakura is an interesting small town with many temples and shrines and a beautiful museum of Buddhist treasures from the temples. In summer the beach is popular. Some of the streets have a resort-y feel. Definitely worth a few days.

The authenticity , the local flavour. The place is cosy and absolutely Japanese. The rooms are spacious and light. The area is quiet. At 8 minutes walk from Kamakura station. The owner takes care of his guests personally with dedication. Japanese breakfast made on the spot.
