The pictures do.not do this rental justice. It was far better. It is not large but it felt spacious. The kitchenette was perfect. The hosts could not have been more pleasant and attentive. I felt welcome immediately and will 100% be coming back.

I am trying to get some response from a human person at Booking.com.You sent me an email at 10.08 on 19th August with a message from the hotel that explained why they needed to cancel the reservation. But clearly nothing or nobody in the Booking.com system took any notice of it because I have received all the usual follow-ups about the reservation from you. This is very bad and I am expecting some response from a person before I take this matter further. My number is 07740404020. Is this the way you treat a long-standing 'genius' customer? We went fir the women's World rugby match so saw little if the town. Oldest Saxondale church nearby you can spot seals and dolphin from the pier end if the seafront in the early morning. The local beach area was litter free.

I was in Sunderland for a conference so saw very little of Sunderland. It was a nice surprise to come across a concert for Pride on a break in the conference. I don't know how much there is to do in Sunderland so it might be better to combine it with a trip to Newcastle. Sunderland do have a decent football stadium, though. That's my usual reason for visiting.

The National Glass Centre is well worth a visit; so is is the museum in the city centre. Clearly a lot of money has been spent on trying to revive the city, and it has some beautiful 19th century buildings, but like everywhere it has suffered from the decline of city centre retailing, and nobody has yet come up with a clear idea what to do about it. Looking for somewhere to eat in Sunderland is a bit of a challenge: it's Greggs, Greggs, McDonalds and Greggs. But overall, it was better than expected.

City centre quite run down apart from The Bridges.

City centre quite run down apart from The Bridges. The positives are there's a beautiful river side walk from the bridge to Roker. Buses are very good and a live app from Stagecoach is very handy. Coastal walk from South Shields to Seaburn is exceptional, taking in great coastal views, Marsden Rock and lighthouse owned by the national trust.

Dirty bed linen and towel. Tv only worked intermittently. No WiFi. Was promised bedding would be changed while i was out at footy match, it wasn't. Was then advised to change the bedsheets myself! No soap, shampoo or shower gel provided . Why is this advertised as a " Roker Boutique hotel/ apartment " when it's miles away from Roker beach and slap bang in Sunderland city centre amongst immigrants awaiting deportation?! Dreadful experience.

Tbe Hotel itself is warm, inviting and immaculately clean, with beautiful towels and bedding. Really good restaurant/room service options too. However, it’s the staff here that makes this place our go-to Sunderland spot. super kind and helpful, and fun!
