The distance to the entrance to the epic Cradle Mountain National Park is the killer feature of this comfy hotel: 5 minutes. The property has nice chill spaces with fireplaces and gaming/social areas to escape the hotel room vibe. The staff was beyond friendly and helpful. Food was tasty. But again the proximity to the entrance of the park was killer.

Gorgeous, huge windows looking out over the forested mountain (no humans or other cabins in sight), and a skylight in the cozy loft bedroom (where you can open the window to let in fresh air and hear the birds). I like the gamebook and color book and colored pencils (analog fun). You can walk down the gravel drive to admire the gorgeous ferns and trees. Great place to stay when visiting Cradle Mountain National Park and you want some privacy. Get Groceries in a city ahead of time or eat at the Inns/Lodges around the park.

It is a special place but visitors need to know that there are no additional facilities there. Ensure you have a full tank of petrol and purchase some goodies to take with you because once you are there you are a "trapped" audience. Prices are high and variety is not great.

One of the best World Heritage Sites there is!

One of the best World Heritage Sites there is! Stunning days no matter the weather! Be prepared if you are going to do any of the longer walks and follow the directions of the maps and staff. We eat at Peppers up the road from where we stay, they have a fantastic tavern there. There is so much to do for couples and families!

Cradle mountain a place must visit when you are coming to Tasmania. Wombats are very cute animals to see them there especially you can spot them at Ronny Creek before sunsets but need to drive into the park very carefully after the shuttle bus stop operating at 430pm.

    Pleasantly surprised.

Pleasantly surprised. Beautiful location, stunning rooms and a good restaurant. Would like to see the restaurant open for breakfast. The buildings were very appropriate for the location. Blend in nicely. Had dinner in the restaurant. Staff are under under-skilled but very friendly and tried very hard. we had a good meal.

I love the short walks available for mobility impaired people, as well as the many other tracks for fitter people. Scenery is lovely and the ever-changing light is magical. I really enjoyed wandering around Waldheim Chalet area and meandering along the Weindorfer Forest Walk where I found lots of fungi. The fagus at this location was easily found and captured by camera. Also great were public toilets located near the Chalet. I love frost and I was lucky to get some interesting frosty pics on the ground.

I'm not a big bush walker but Cradle Mountain is definitely a 'must' for everyone. There are so many different walking trails for different abilities and the walk around Dove Lake is lovely but also 2 hours. The walk from Ronny Creek to Snake Hill is just lovely with a boardwalk and very peaceful. The Tas NP pass is all you need for Cradle Mountain and not a separate one. The carpark is HUGE and then you buy your ticket for the 'bus' that leaves every 10-15 minutes which is really convenient.

The cabins were lovely, tastefully decorated and layout great. Heated blankets were a plus and the heaters warmed the rooms up quickly. Kitchen area well equipped. We didn't use the restaurant but it looked pleasant; wood fire in bar area was lovely. It was a plus to see 2 little wallabies / pademelons from the balcony on our first evening. It was a short drive to the visitor centre and devils@cradle. Check out nearby Peppers and the Enchanted walk for wallabies, pademelon and wombats.

Beautiful cosy wood cabins a stone's throw from the Cradle Mountain Visitors Centre! Warm log fire, warm comfortable beds, surrounded by ancient trees and visited by wallabies at night! There's even a tame young female wombat ambling around, quite unphased by us humans. Great kitchen as well for cooking a simple meal. Loved it, I thoroughly recommend the Highlander to anyone visiting Cradle Mountain

Ideal location for a 2 night stay near Cradle Mountain. An easy drive up to the National Park visitors centre. On arrival we were greeted by friendly courteous staff who gave us a very nice welcome. Room was very cosy and felt newly renovated. Being able to have drinks and dinner at the Hotel without leaving the building was so nice. Can't wait to return for the snow.
