Beds were comfy and clean, one towel had a black stain on it so we didn’t use that one but the rest were clean. Bathroom upstairs was great with the spa bath and double sinks and shower. Love that there is a/c both upstairs and downstairs. There needs to be a toilet brush with the downstairs toilet, there is mould on the ceiling of that toilet room. The downstairs must not have been vacuumed before we arrived as there were a couple of dead cockroaches near the dining table so I swept the entire downstairs area and there was a lot of debris. Glad our toddler is walking, not crawling. Small spiders, some dead, some alive, all throughout the house. Only used microwave and fridge but the oven looked grubby from the outside and cutlery not 100% clean. We put the bins out as we noticed the neighbours do theirs but there was no info in the house about these things. Perhaps warn people only a small car can manoeuvre into the garage. Had to ring to get door codes after checkin time had been confirmed and it was past advised arrival time. Place has potential. Location was great for what we needed.

    I have stayed at the Gateshead Tavern three years in a row for Christmas/New Year, and we have had a good experience in the past. We like the location: there is a petrol station. Oporto and Subway next door; there is a great coffee place around the corner, and the beach is a 7-minute drive away. The rooms are basic but comfortable, especially the beds! Despite having the Tavern out front, the hotel area is quiet. The cleaners are amazing and always leave the room well-stocked and clean and tidy.

    We stayed 2 nights for a quick stop over. Very basic but great value for money. Beds were comfortable. Room was very quiet even though it’s at the back of a hotel we didn’t hear a thing and also very clean. Air conditioning worked well. Very hot showers. Room also has a fridge and tea and coffee making facilities. Parking is good and they also have spaces to park for trailers. There are shops close by within driving distance.
