Had a very nice and comfortable stay here. The facilities are well kept and maintained, and the landlord is very friendly and helpful. The property also has a restaurant on the ground floor that serves good local beers.

Amazing location - the view from the dining area, onsen and rooms is amazing overlooking the mountains from a secluded perch. From the moment you walk in you are made to feel so welcome in a warm family-run establishment. The food is some of the best we ate this trip. A real convivial vibe with everyone congregating for drinks on the terrace ahead of dinner. Make sure to try the homemade ume-shu!

Bed comfy, nice a/c, easy check-in, not far from train and bus lines, and the host went above and beyond helping me get stated on the Kumano Kodo. He helped contact the next place I'd be staying to schedule a pickup, The only contact was via local phone info. He even reached out to me to call the next host when I was at the pick up point. Great host!

It’s a remodeled century old house so the experience was quaint. The silence was so very much appreciated! The owners combined speak Japanese, English, and Italian. The Chef amazingly fuses Japanese and Italian cuisine together. The food was really amazing 🤩

This is a very nice Japanese style guest house on two floors. Our group of 5 were the only ones staying there, which was great, as we prepared to embark on walking the Kumano Kodo the next day. There's a shared kitchen, living room, along with shared toilets and showers. Very comfortable and tastefully decorated, and only a very short walk from Kii Tanabe train station. Once we found the person who checks us in, she was very nice and helpful. Excellent value.

    Tanabe was our starting point for our Kumano Kodo trek so we stayed in Tanabe only one day not realizing how much there is to do in Tanabe. If we ever come to Tanabe again, we will be sure to stay longer to enjoy all that there is to do there. I think we could have stayed a whole week if we weren't going on our trek.

    Owner was super friendly and welcoming! I arrived late at night, saw that there was a note to call him and he came down right away! He was also super helpful with pointing out what was around the area/bus timings etc. It is a short walk from Kii-Tanabe Station. Everything is great for a simple stay before heading off to kumano kodo!

    We had a wonderful stay at Kumano Kodo Nagano Guesthouse! The owner was kind and very helpful—he picked us up from Tanabe Station and dropped us off at the start of the Kumano Kodo trail in the morning. He also took the time to share insights about the region and let us taste his delicious homemade plum wine! Thank you for the stay!

    Well located self-service stay on the Kumano Kodo. The rooms are nicely set up and I love the converted containers concept. The town the accommodation is in is very easy to access by bus from Kii Tanaba. Makes taking the trail easy to do and get back even as a day hiker staying 2 nights.
