Although it is boutique hotel, but the stay was exceptional, I loved the in-room massage u shouldn’t miss that, and the private pool temperature is great.. I will definitely come back.

I liked the big patio and the interesting barrel design. And big room and super big toilet. We got free upgrade though so review applies to the bigger room. And the pond is nice to have. The aeration gives nice sound like being by ocean! And if you have your own car or bike this is good location! There is nothing walking distance away which is good to notice. The staff member (guy) during breakfast was nice fella. Took time to talk with us in Thai. Oh and electricity works without key so you can recharge while away. Place was full of families, definitely good for families. There is even free pool table and books to read. Staff English was excellent

Their check in time closes at 6, so if you check in later, they have separate instructions for you. Location is fine, lots to do. Full moon party speedboat transfer was a 7 minute walk. Airport is close enough (10-15 mins). Room was very clean and spacious. Either the other guests were very quiet or the rooms are thick enough where you don’t hear everybody. Full balcony outside.

    Koh Tao is still one of the few raw escapes in Thailand in...

    Koh Tao is still one of the few raw escapes in Thailand in my opinion, its divers and back packers heaven. However as a father with 2 kids in my forties i absolutely loved it. If you step away from the busy areas and off the beaten track you can find amazing coves and hiden gems still. The tourism all over the world has killed so much of our wildlife and reefs. The locals are definitely trying to do all they can to save it. Brilliant food, amazing views and a fun island.

    Chaweng is a beautiful destination for a chill out holiday The Jungle Tour is definitely worth doing & don't be afraid to barter the price Lots of eateries with great selection of food to choose from Fishermans Market is very pretty at night & there are bargains to be had If you hire a car or scooter - by careful if you like to dabble in the Green because the Police will pull you over & you will get a hefty fine - not worth it - grab a taxi or the local rides (which are cheap)

    The first two times we visited Koh Samui we stayed in Bophut...

    The first two times we visited Koh Samui we stayed in Bophut near Fisherman's Village. After exploring the island a little more, we came to the conclusion that Lamai was the area we preferred, The beaches were better and sandy compared to Bophut which was more of a slush/muddy fell underfoot. Chaweng was a little too much for us, however, Lamai was just right.

    The park is huge and amazing! So much to do and see. What I didn’t like was the entry sign with the discriminatory fees listed. In English, “ Foreigners 200 baht “, then, written in Thai, “ Thai citizens 40 baht “.

    Not the nicest part of island.

    Not the nicest part of island. Geared towards full moon party, laughing gas and fire shows. Quiet when not full moon in a nice way but the town is run down. Haad Rin beach is beautiful though. Saw quite a few families which was nice. Rented our bike from here and explored the island for a few days. Road between Haad Rin and Thong Sala and everywhere else on the East/West of the island is very steep hills to ride by bike.

    Depending on where you stay you may need a scooter to get around or taxi's. Which are reasonably priced. With the heat and UV we found walking nearby was a chore at certain times of the day. Once we hired the scooter we could explore the whole island. Its great if most of your trip is for swimming and relaxing around the pool. As with most of the island it really doesn't get going until later in the afternoon. Its also cooler. Markets are great to visit. Restaurants and bars are excellent and service as well. The people are kind and courteous.

    The Fisherman's Village was fantastic.

    The Fisherman's Village was fantastic. No car or scooter access at night made for lovely walks along the street, seeing the markets and bars and restaurants in relative peace. Plus none of the typical sleazy Thai bars/clubs.

    We were planning on 2 nights but changed plans and left...

    We were planning on 2 nights but changed plans and left after 1 as there is nothing to do on the town but look at shops. One temple to visit if wanted. Wish we hadn’t stayed the one night! Ok for a transfer through to the islands but nothing more in our opinion. Our taxi took us to the wrong ferry office which was annoying and no one really helped us find the correct one, thankfully we made it in time.

    I choose to stay in Bann Tai for its central location.

    I choose to stay in Bann Tai for its central location. There are much nicer locations on the island to stay, however if you are like me, and like to explore, then this location is best as its in the middle of the coast line, and its close to central heart road ways that take you to any part of the island quickly.

    The night life - bars, cafés, markets, and I enjoyed getting a massage after all the walking around. There are many massage parlors and massages are so affordable here. Also, the service at the massage parlors is very good.
