So much to do when you arrive in Marrakech.
So much to do when you arrive in Marrakech. You can take many of the desert trips into the Sahara Desert Morocco and stay overnight in a desert camp. You can go to beautiful Ouzoud Falls to see the waterfalls and meet the cheeky monkeys. You can take a Supratours local bus from the bus station for approx €14 ( 1400 mad) and go to the cooler Atlantic coast and visit Essouira, a beautiful fishing town where the local fish are caught With restaurants all up the coast there to choose from. We were a group of 8 people (2 mums and all our children - aged 21 to 26) and we stayed in Marrakech for 5 nights and just loved the hustle and bustle of the city. In general people are very friendly and helpful and you feel very safe in the city even in big crowds. A few times, we experienced rude and not-so-trustworthy people, who tried to cheat us. Landlocked which makes it very hot in the summer. This made it not very enjoyable to go out and explore the city as much as we would like. Favourite place was Gueliz. Shopping there was much better, modern place with high end brands and restaurants. The taxis were not very affordable, especially the yellow taxis. Beautiful city with a very rich culture. As a female solo traveler, I felt safe, but remember to dress modestly (cover shoulders, no cleavage, and skirts/pants to the knee) and you'll do fine. There's lots to see and do. Have patience and understand that you're not in your home country anymore and that traffic and haggling are all part of the daily life in Morocco. Also, not all restaurants will serve alcohol, but I didn't really miss it since the juices, mocktails and teas were all so good. The food is EXCELLENT. It was rather hot during our trip in July/August, so in retrospect would have preferred Winter, but on the positive side it was less busy in what is a manically busy city centre. We loved the dining and walking around watching local life and observing a completely different culture. The narrow lanes of the market were bustling and interesting, but some of the sights which you paid a lot of money to enter were quite dissapointing, better to just wander around.
