Takamatsu is a regional town on Shikoku Island in Japan.
Takamatsu is a regional town on Shikoku Island in Japan. It is quite relaxed and has everything that you may look for in big cities. Shikoku Island is one of the main 4 Islands of Japan. It is good to reach by train, bus and even by airplane. It has an old history and boasts of many traditional handicrafts, regional specialties (such as udon noodles), etc. Always worth a visit - even if it is in the rainy season.Guest review byGalinski - 10.0
Matsuyama is a city with a lot to offer.
Matsuyama is a city with a lot to offer. From the stunning views from Matsuyama castle, to the history of Dogo Onsen. It has many hidden gems in the form of cafes, traditional craft and cultural experiences and is a good jumping off point to see the rest of Ehime/Shikoku.Guest review byKai1582Japan - 10.0

Perfect size city , all the mod cons without the mad cap rat race of Tokyo or Osaka. Excellent amount of restaurants and food outlets with a great food hall at the bottom of the main shopping area. Close to the ocean and mountains with out door pursuits like hiking and white water rafting a short train ride up the valley .Guest review bypaulAustralia - 10.0

Tokushima Prefecture is pretty much off the beaten track for foreign visitors to Japan. If you are hoping to have a real Japanese experience, and avoid the crowds, Tokushima, along with other 'rural' regions of Japan are the perfect places to visit.Guest review byAngusJapan - 10.0

Would recommend adventuring through these inland sea islands. There is quite a bit to see. People are kind, landscape is beautiful, super safe, public transportation adequate. There is now a direct bus from Omishima bus stop to Hiroshima making it super easy.Guest review byKAUnited States - 8.0

I ejoyed my stay in the Kabuki theatre, where a well-knolweged guide gave a great commentary. The trip to Konpira San was interesting. You will enojoy the walk to the main builiding, the grand view of Kotohira, the souvenir stores, and the museum with old Japanese paintings and art works.Guest review byPoLun - 6.0

Niihama was a perfect stop in our bicycle trip (perfect distances between two spots). Otherwise there is not much to do in the city unfortunately. But we can recommend a good place to eat udon, it is called うどん茶屋志 Japon, 〒792-0865 Ehime, Niihama, Sakuragicho, 3−36 道 Really huge bowl of udon, tasty and cheap !Guest review byPerrineFrance - 8.0
Takamatsu was a great base from which to visit the area.
Takamatsu was a great base from which to visit the area. We based ourselves there and did daybtrips to places like Kotohira and Shadoshima. All the things you need in a town, small enough not to be overwhelming.Guest review byLorinJapan - 10.0
The Best part about Matsuyama was where we stayed.
The Best part about Matsuyama was where we stayed. It was Ryokan Kominka Mitsuhama, and it was detailed by a true artist. You have 2 floors of space with the bedroom upstairs and a large living room downstairs. The living room is surrounded by 2 different mature and well lit Japanese gardens. One had many Koi swimming in the ponds. So lovely! It was in a quiet, low key neighborhood but just 2 blocks to the river and near a little working fisherman's bay. The boats were squid fisherman with lights strung on them because they fish at night with the lights to attract the squid. There were plenty of small local restaurants and bakeries. It was a respite from tourist crowds and off the beaten path.Guest review byPaulUnited States - 8.0
We were there for two days, which felt a bit short.
We were there for two days, which felt a bit short. The castle is a must-see, if only for the view from the top, of the city with mountains in the background. The Sunday Market is also a must, if you're there on the weekend. The small Science Museum near the castle was fun and very hands on, mainly for kids but also a nice detour for adults. We also found a Back to the Future DeLorean in the Automobile Museum, which was a nice surprise. Katsuo (bonito) is famous in Kochi, it's flame cooked a little on the outside but still raw on the inside and pretty tasty.Guest review byMichael in JapanJapan
