Illmitz is a great location for visiting the Neusiedler See National Park. It has a good choice of restaurants; our hotel (Hotel Post) did evening meals Thu-Sun, so we had a chance to try other restaurants on oher evenings (Heuriger Holzhammer Pusztascheune Illmitz, Antonios Hof). Before leaving we used the web site https://www.birdingplaces.eu/ which had good information on places to visit and what we might expect to see. The hotel itself also had a good booklet on local places to visit and wildlife and we bought an English language version. The rooms have everything you need, everything is clean and comfortable, there's a well-equipped kitchenette, and it's close to all corners of Illmitz. There's an option to store bikes in the garage. Our whole family (10 people) were able to stay in three apartments in a common area where we had privacy and the opportunity to sit together in the garden. They provided us with breakfast, plus Mrs. Gangl baked us apple strudel for snack. Great communication, I can only recommend.
