I went with my teenage boys as one wanted to visit Monaco. A week was too long; 4 days would have been better. It's more shopping and cultural museums (which were good value) than interactive museums and activities. I expected more 'general stuff to do' that you might expect in any big city. The Nice stadium tour and sports museum saved us here. Nice is lovely.
Nice is lovely. So many wonderful bars and restaurants with very friendly and professional staff. We found the markets lovely with all the fresh produce and crafts. It’s easy to travel by train to nearby places like Monaco and Villefranche-sur-Mer ( it was lovely for swimming there as the beach was sandy and flat, unlike the beach at Nice which was very stoned and extremely steep to get in and out of the sea. However we enjoyed watching people try as we took a daily walk along the promenade des Anglais) The old town is delightful and architecturally beautiful and quaint. I recommend other places, like Cannes or Menton, even Monaco. Although the streets were cleaned every morning, Nice felt very dirty, and there were also homeless Russians lurking on the beach and asking for money. Also, one particular spot always smelled of urine. The city itself is beautiful, but it feels kinda run down. All one can see nowadays is that it was glorious in the old times, so it feels pretty sad there. On the other hand, there are opportunities to take trains or boats to get away to much nicer places that are 1 or 2 h trips away.Guest review byMaraLatvia
