Probably one of my favorite stays in Iceland. Greeted warmly upon arrival after a long day of driving. Was shown to rooms. Rooms were lovely. Well appointed and good size. The owner upgraded our rooms to ones with a view which was so thoughtful. Rooms were impeccably clean. Beds were comfortable. Bathrooms large. We slept with the window open all night and it was heavenly. Soft music plays in the reception and dining areas. We had dinner which consisted of two types of soup-chicken and Icelandic meat soup. Bread, salted butter and dessert offered as well. Breakfast in the morning consisted of pasties, fruit, cheese and sliced meat, hard boiled eggs along with yogurt options with various toppings. Juice, milk, water and coffee available. They also have an outdoor jacuzzi. Overall, just a lovely, clean comfortable place to stay. Wish we could’ve stayed longer than one night.

Beautiful and very cozy accommodation. They even provide bathrobes. The views are fantastic and the comfy armchairs invite to linger. Very quiet and peaceful. We would have liked to have stayed a bit longer to go on walks and explore the valley. Very good restaurant on site where we booked a delicious dinner and had a good breakfast. The staff was very friendly.

The hotel was exactly as stated-rustic charm. We loved the welcoming casual vibe. The meals were very good. The history of the area and the herring factory tour was great! We enjoyed the drive up and the surrounding areas. we loved the feeling of remoteness- maybe not for everyone but it was the favorite area we stayed in our ten day trip around Iceland.

This guesthouse is right on the water with incredible views. The building is a little older but that adds to the charm. Great kitchen facilities and bathroom/showers. Great location in Borgarnes. There is a wonderful coffee and cake shop right next door. My room was cozy and clean. Check in and out was easy. I would stay here again for sure !

We only spent 1 night and 1 lunchtime in Borgarnes, so my experience was limited. We would have loved to stay longer and explore more! The walk along the seaside is beautiful and a great way to get around. The pool with its hot tubs is excellent - just go here and skip the pricey spas! The town feels so safe and there are some lovely bakeries and cafes. The Settlement Museum is well worth a visit!

The parking by the fall is expensive at no reason. It offers no services, like toilets. If the weather is ok and you like walking, there is a free spot closer to the city, 1mile or 1500m, with a trail to the fall. The fall and the mountain together in a pic are the postcard you imagined.

I would like to address several reviewers comments in general about the size of the bathrooms and showers. The bathrooms have been updated. the bathrooms are on the smaller side but so are most of the bathrooms in all the hotels I have stayed at in Iceland. We travel extensively and notice differences in all of the countries we have been to that are different from our own places and each place that you go. I think it is ok to mention this so other people are aware but to complain so much about it is not necessary. I would also like to mention how wonderful their water is! It can go from freezing cold to sauna hot in a matter of seconds and it is the only country that I prefer to dink from the tap! I hope this helps :)
