Brand new facility, obviously very clean 🙂 Guys on reception were very kind and upgraded our room as the one we booked was without window and I didn’t catch it while booking. That room was very spacious! Location is very close to the main sightseeings. We also liked breakfast. What is also very important in a hot summer (we came in July), that a/c was working well!

If you like history and Islamic architecture, you MUST visit. The city is a remnant of the USSR; they are still running electric trams from that era (not a bad thing, though). Getting around the city is very easy with a taxi-hailing app called Yandex Go. The city is extremely clean, and the roads are wide. It's unfortunate that, like other cities, they have introduced electric scooters, and the young people seem to think that you, as a pedestrian, should get out of their way. So, in other words, be careful when you are walking.

One of the most fascinating cities I've visited, with a stellar collection of monuments, who's upkeep is one to be envied. The light show at the Registan complex in the evening was so spectacular, I had to watch it on both evenings I was there! The Shah-I-Zinda ensemble is something out of this world, and the interiors of the mausoleum of Amir Temur are breathtaking. Samarqand is very easy on the eyes, a pleasant city to walk around in, has plenty of good restaurants and cafes, and is overall just a joy to visit. I hope to be back there someday!

Since the important monuments are mostly around Registan, and not spread out in the city, if one stays in that area, then one does not get overwhelmed by the urban alndscape and ambiance, as it happens in Tashkent. We were able to see the blue dome of the Timur Mussoleum from our window. It is also possible to simply walk out of your hotel and enjoy thesse monuments in the night light.

Samarqand, at the time we visited which was low season, was awesome. The historical sites are monumental and, at the time we visited, the sense of history and significance of the many sites was what struck me. There are some local stalls in some monuments but not many -unlike Bukhara, which struck me, even in low season as much more commercial -which took away from the significance of many of the sites. Samarqand exceeded my expectations and I would recommend walking to all of the sites and taking in a different region on different days. I would also recommend making sure you get to the Afrosayid archeological site and the museum where the 7th century wall murals are housed.

    Beautiful!

Beautiful! Not just because of the historical monuments, which is what attracts most tourists, but thanks to superb city planning - wide streets, cleanliness everywhere, well maintained green areas, lots of flowers, NO GRAFITI! The city architect (i.e. authorities in charge of the city's appearance) deserve all praise for the distinct and harmonious style of contemporary, new buildings. Very friendly people with many adorable children - obviously a family-oriented society. A visit to the traditional paper mill and crafts center (Konigil) is a must. Siob bazar, Registan Square, Gur Amir (Timur's mausoleum - 50 m from the Daniyar hotel), Bibi Khanum complex, Ulughbeg's Observatory.

My visit duration to Samarkand was for 3.5 days (4 ) nights. All major attraction are within walking distance from Registan Square. Ticket prices for attractions (May 2025) range from 40k to 65k. With the exception of Registan, ticket is for daily entry. For Registan (65k), ticket for single entry only. There is a nightly light show and a laser show starting at 8pm. Go early for front row unhindered viewing. During the day, it is very warm, better to stay under shades. For Shakhi -Zinda (tombs for royal ladies), very popular for visitors. Go early morning or at sunset to avoid crowds. Amazing blue tiles! Most restaurants near major sites tag on 10-15% service charge on top of menu prices. Very safe to walk in the evenings.

We’ve stayed here twice because we loved it so much. The family that owns the property is super friendly and helpful, especially Bakhodir, who went above and beyond to ensure we had a great stay. We even had him as a tour guide for a day and we learned so much about Samarkand and Uzbekistan thanks to him. The hotel is in a fantastic location and we were very happy with our room. The daily breakfast was also incredible. I would highly recommend you stay here.

Highly recommend this place, with it's interesting history, beautiful grounds and extremely friendly and helpful staff. Probably the best hotel we stayed in all Uzbekistan during our trip. The breakfast was delicious and plentiful. Rooms were comfortable, clean and well appointed. Location is great, nearby walking to most sights. The best thing was the wonderful staff - always present and willing to help or just have a chat if you wanted. Really lovely.
