Relais Villa San Martino, hotel in Martina Franca

Villa San Martino is an elegant establishment, surrounded by a beautiful green park, just outside the Baroque city of Martina Franca. Get ready for a pleasant, relaxing Apulian holiday.

Family owned and operated Masseria with beautiful grounds and buildings. Two restaurants id exceptional quality. About a half mile out of the town center on a large and private property. A highly professional young staff, They have a world class wine cellar and collection. A magnificent breakfast is included. Quite a value. Martina Franca is a hidden gem 20 minutes from everything. The historic inner city is one of the most incredibly elegant, clean and safe family friendly experiences of Southeastern Italy. And the prices are an incredible bargain. Puglia is called the new Amalfi. Maybe not quite the glitz but far advanced from our trips of 30 years ago. This little city is so easy to travel to every other site including Lecce and Gallipoli, both part of this incredibly revived area. After you have seen the big tourist cities, go south east for a real Italian experience. Bella, Bella, Bella.

Martina Franca is located within the province of Taranto in...

Martina Franca is located within the province of Taranto in central Puglia. It has a compact old town, where you can still trace the ring of old city walls, puntuated by occasional round towers at corners. It's one of Puglia's "white cities", so called because the buildings are all painted in bright whitewash. It's a quiet city, but the old centre is equipped with some great restaurants, coffee shops and places where you can sit down and enjoy gelato. The city is centrally located, and parking wasn't too hard, which means that it's an ideal base if you plan to drive around the region and visit other cities such as Locorotondo (barely 15 minutes away), Alberobello, Matera and Lecce. It's also thankfully spared from the hordes of tourists that tend to descend en masse on other cities in Puglia, so it's retained more charm than some of its neighbours in the region.

This was one of the most beautiful apartments imaginable.

This was one of the most beautiful apartments imaginable. The 2 bedrooms are spaced widely apart for ultimate privacy. The decor and facilities are top notch. This owner did an outstanding renovation compared to so many that I have seen where the original home was "butchered" to save money. The rooftop terrace is lovely and we had a neighborhood cat who traversed the rooftops to visit up every morning. He didn't get close, just kept an eye out for treats. We didn't do any cooking because there are hundreds of lovely restaurants that we wanted to try, but the kitchen appeared to be completely equipped.

Martina Franc combines beauty and cleanliness with many of the services of a large city. The restaurants are very good. The cafes on the square are a great place to enjoy coffee and pastry while people watching. The people are friendly and helpful. My Italian is not good but if the person I was speaking to didn't understand me they found someone that did speak English.

Martina Franca is a charming town, not overly touristed, with many restaurants and bars. We especially like Muscato Bar for our morning coffee and cornetto and also for afternoon apertivi; Culo e Camicia makes fantastic pizza; fried pizza appetizer, and any pasta with with the homemade tomato sauce at Ristorante Garibaldi is THE BEST! The people of Martina Franca are friendly; many speak some English. It is a great base for exploring Alberobello, Locorotondo, Cisternino, Taranto, and Grotto di Castellana.

I loved how clean it was and the secured parking and how close it was to old town Martina Franca. I also liked that it was a Trulli home . The host helped me so much in planning my travels while driving.

It was an amazing location in a peaceful and green area with a great view (from the swimming pool). A view you can also enjoy from the outside dining table with BBQ. It was cute, newly renovated, and had everything we needed, including coffee :) Marco was easy to communicate with and gave us many great tips of where to eat. Within a short distance, you easily visit most of Puglia's highlights. In the future, we will definitely return.

Beautiful surrounding, we loved being alone! It was very quiet and calm, just nature. Very close to Martina Franca (which is also a very beautiful city), and a good starting point for exploring the Puglia region. The trullo was very nice and clean. The pool was great. We love the wild cats too. Only one thing is missing: wine opener-beer opener.

The hotel is clearly old but high quality none the less. The room had a nice closet and balcony. Everything was clean and working. Breakfast was very good with a large selection of foods, which is quite unnormal in Italy.
