My partner and I got into a car accident on the way to the hotel and Francisco, the manager, truly went above and beyond to help us—he drove us back and forth from the hotel to the town multiple times, helped us contact the local authorities, coordinated with the tow truck, all while serving us a lovely dinner and maintaining exactly the sort of calm kindness that’s so invaluable in a crisis. Mecina Fondales is not as touristic as other places in Alpujarra and well connected with other villages. Small hiking trails lead to several nice spots in the surrounding. There are enough options to eat excellent food and enjoy the stay. Mecina is full of flowers and smelly plants. The many water sources makes the place unique.
