Hotel Palacio de Mariana Pineda is a renovated 17th-century palace in the Albaycín district of Granada, facing the Alhambra. It offers free Wi-Fi and a variety of beauty and massage treatments. This hotel is one of the best hotels I've stayed at.
Although the number of people allowed at the same time is limited, the crowd is really making the experience quite unpleasant. It is a shame because the words are missing to describe the splendour of the world-unique monuments and buildings. The quite numerous guided groups stalling everywhere represent a real inconvenience for individual visitors. A solution might be to reserve special periods for individual visitors, even if it means charging a higher fee. This i think would yield a more enjoyable visit.
Book your tickets a month in advance. No tickets at all (night tours, guided tours) were available even a week in advance when I went. I have been to Alhambra before, and it is wonderful, but it has become just too popular, with large tour groups overwhelming it. But it is also huge, so I think they are a little stingy with the tickets. Unfortunately, if you just show up, you have to walk up a very steep hill for 20 minutes with no shade before you get to the top and they tell you there are no tickets for sale now or anytime soon. They could have put a sign at the bottom saying "unless you have reservations, don't walk up this hill!
Breathtakingly beautiful ! Get there early as there is quite a walk from the entrance to the Nazarene palace in the main tour. Also allow yourself at least two hours time to be able to see everything. It’s well worth it !
Wear comfortable walking shoes! So much to see. We got a guided tour expecting it just to be for the Palaces but it was for the whole site. Well worth it. Certain I would not have got half the appreciation of the magnificance of the place had it not been for the fantastic guide.
Magnificent. Important: you need to book your ticket in time - I recommend 1 month before your visit!! Book a ticket for all palaces and places, it's worth it. We had a guided tour and that was also great. It takes approximately 3 hours and you need to walk a lot.
We took the day tour as we arrived last minute but managed to secure a tour with a guide. We would highly recommend the night tour as we were only able to see the place lit up from our hotel and from the view point from across the city. If you want history and feel like you have had an experience you will never forget, this is the place for you.
Granada City Center, Granada
the location was great. right next door to Zara’s Burger King and and easy walk from the car park. also a beautiful walk to the tourist info area where we started our tour of Alhambra and generalife.
The Alhambra inside and out is more beautiful in person than any picture can capture. The views from around town with the mountainous background are breathtaking. Enjoying that with wine and a complimentary cocktail is a perfect day in my experience.
The whole city, downtown and vicinity, is a living area with its beautiful Alhambra as a background, its gypsies and flamenco music and dancing, great music and its gorgeous buildings and churches make it a place in which you will feel part of an Arabian story.
The Alhambra is a must see if you are planning a trip to Spain. The crowds are kept to a minimum by carefully timed entrances to the Palace and the grounds which enhances the overall experience. Fantastic!
Taking a tour that includes time to see the Alhambra and Albayzín is key, but also take time to walk slowly in the small streets. Stop for ice cream or beer w/ tapas. Look up at the buildings as you walk to notice all the architectural details.
The Alhambra for starters, along with the history surrounding the battle for Granada between the Moors and the Catholic monarchs. Washington Irving and his tales of the Alhambra ... The list goes on ...
Alhambra is the first and foremost attraction of all Granada although the cathedral is a worthy place to have a look as well.
