FAQs about hotels in Ho Chi Minh City

Asian Tradition, French Flair and Growing Modernity

With delicious Vietnamese aromas, small silk shops and ancient pagodas, the streets of Ho Chi Minh City dazzle tourists with their vibrant atmosphere. Its rich culture includes beautiful French colonial palaces mixed with modern skyscrapers that show the power of Vietnam’s economic capital.

Whether you decide to visit the Notre-Dame Cathedral, the City Hall, or the Municipal Theater, you’ll see the care shown by Saigonese people in preserving their historic legacy. On the other hand, the Haussmann-style boulevards are typically packed with small motorcycles that make every street crossing a whole new experience.

Contemporary Saigon can be seen in places like the Bitexco Financial Tower, located directly at central Ham Nghi Blvd. Meanwhile, Saigon Center or Zen Plaza are some of its modern shopping malls.

For a look into Vietnam’s recent history, don’t miss the Reunification Palace or the War Remnants Museum. A sunset visit to the 23rd September Park is the best way to mingle with the locals.

Indulge yourself in one of the 5-star Ho Chi Minh hotels, or stay in a budget hotel at Pham Ngu Lao Street. Don’t miss the Ho Chi Minh City accommodations on Booking.com before arriving at Tan Son Nhat International Airport!

Ho Chi Minh city is my first international solo travel and it's a fairly safe city to explore. I had the best time here, considering I did walk to most of the places. The city is great and quite accessible if you know how to use navigation apps. You can also book rides through ride-hailing apps. Con: there are times when there are lots of trash everywhere, but that's manageable.

    This is a short review.

This is a short review. Ho Chi Minh City is a cosmopolitian city with connections to the past and aspirations for the future. It serves to provide experiences from a diverse range on interactions supported by a friendly and welcoming people. There are many options in terms what you may what to see and do but from my experience if you are looking for a journey of understanding and experence Vietnams history, when planning to visit museums, despite claiming they will be open online, you need to consider if it is worth your time to visit less major attractions can be consolidated to include other options as I have found museums that are suppose to be open end up being closed when I have spent money going there with no explanation as to why it is closed. So plan your days carefully with contingency plans. Overall I had a lot of fun in HCMC and recommend it as a place to visit and experience Vietnamese culture.

A lively, real city, the center of the Vietnamese south, where there is something to see, something to do -- and from where you can easily reach Dalat, Baolok or the coast. The War Museum, Notre Dame, a traditional puppet theater on the water, a boat ride with a small historical theater show, a trip outside the city to the Mekong River and much more. An inexpensive taxi makes Ho Chi Minh City open and accessible, and the opportunity to call a motorcycle taxi makes traveling around the city also excitingly fun. What I liked the most was walking in parks at five or six in the morning, where the whole city is going to do fitness, badminton, dance, or just have breakfast on the lawn.

Ho Chi Minh City is a mixture of surprises of modern and history. Found the people very warm the traffic is an interesting challenge but once use to it is pretty easy. There is a huge amount of eateries all were great and you feel quite safe which surprised us a little bit because of the size of the city. Meals and transport are cheap, people we found friendly the museums worth a visit. Surprised how positive everyone was considering the history of wars it has been has had. As an Australian I had only heard much of the view more of the American side but was interesting to balance the discussion. Well worth a visit has a bit of everything for everyone.

HCMC is a bit overwhelming at first - huge contrast of slums next to high-rise modern buildings, clean brightly lit quiet interiors and traffic-packed roads next to narrow dirty streets with rats lurking in bushes. There are things to look at - it's history, temples and city's background - having to discover this and coming in contact with was refreshing in and of itself. I enjoyed food - having found a good eatery was one of the brightest experiences. I would not recommend staying here if you're not a fan of crowds, noise and traffic - finding a quiet corner is quite a task. Also, navigating it's streets also not a great experience because even if it's green light on at a pedestrian crossing - no-one waits for you as the traffic just goes around and never fully stops for you to safely cross the street. Navigating it's buses network was confusing at first and fun experience later - for 5-6k dong you could go a distance and save your feet. Being only foreigner on a bus is fun in and of itself. Bus controllers were helpful and told about my stop in advance. Next time I go to Saigon i'd allocate 3-4 days with a clear number of places to visit and then go to a next location.

The history is amazing and so much to see and learn. The tunnels are a must and the museums in the city complete the story. Shopping is reasonable and if you a market shopper go to Sense market where aircon and cleaner and easier to deal with.

Family operated hotel. Only 13 rooms in the building, located in District 1, about a 10 minute stroll to Ben Thanh Market and Bui Vien Walking Street. Breakfast was basic, with a huge range of fresh fruit to choose from and a set menu made to order. Rooms were very spacious, clean and tidy with aircon to keep the room cool all day long. We were booked to stay again but unfortunately they are upgrading their rooms during our next visit to Ho Chi Minh City.

PROS: Convenient location in District 1, the heart of Ho Chi Minh City. Everything was a short taxi ride away and many restaurants within walking distance. Rooms are small but comfortable (given it is a city hotel) but you may not get a room with a window. Staff were super helpful & friendly and catered to our needs very well. Good value for money.
